Corum is 9th in FBS in attempts per game, but he is 5th in the month of October at 27.33

we shall see if he is capable of carrying that load going forward. Most scat-backs are not
I don't think they will rely solely on Corum. They showed against the Pedsters that they're going to utilize Donovan Edwards as well now.
I don't think their offense is capable of going away from the run, and I don't think their staff is smart enough to if they need to.
THIS!
Their entire offensive identity is tied to the run. I don't see them relying on JJ anytime soon to actually win them a game. The best way to beat scUM, is to get up early and negate the run game, and force JJ into making bad decisions. They don't have an elite TE like in year's past, and have above average WRs. If the OL and DL for OSU can hold on this year, then I see a W. And possibly by a wide margin if the D can force errors on the QB

You just have to get them in a few 3rd and longs where McCarthy has to make a play. I don't think they are winning those situations a great amount of the time.

The illusion of "balance" from DFBIA is complete crap. They clearly don't trust McCarthy enough to let him loose on down the field throws. The great majority of his passes are check downs or quick dump offs where he doesnt hold the ball long at all. It's a train wreck the few times we've seen them actually attempt long developing pass plays.

The PSU game may have shown they’ll use Blake as well

but Corum ran the ball 28 times vs PSU

28 times

that does not indicate that they’ll be lessening the load on Corum

Problem is most of the defenses they will face along the way are pretty much not capable of touching him.

He was 5-10 yards down field most of the time before Penn State even laid a finger on him.

It's not like he's having a ton of grind it out runs, most are just straight up uncontested.

He's talented, yes. But a LOT of his success is due to scUMs line constantly opening up holes you could run a semi through.

There isn't a defense left on their schedule that will shut down their offense that's not named THE Ohi State

I didn't mean to indicate that they'd use him less. Corum is definitely the lead dog. But Edwards averaging 10yds/car on 16car shows that they're going to use him too.

I know stats don't tell the whole story, but they make Ohio State look good comparatively so I'm saying that statistically Chop is doing more with every carry than Corum:

Chop: 64 for 497, 7.8 per carry, long 70, 8 TDs (one every 8 carries)

Corum: 118 for 735, 6.2 per carry, long 50, 11 TDs (one every 10.7 carries)
Crossing from Miyan's thread because of the Corum talk. Update time.

Corum (7 games): 146 for 901, 6.2 per carry, 13 TDs

Chop/Tre (6 games): 133 for 933, 7.0 per carry, 12 TDs

Corum has been under 6 yards per carry in 5 of their 7 games, including his Heisman performance (according to *ichigan Twitter) on Saturday. Chop has been under once (ASU), and Tre twice (Toledo and Wisconsin).

Damn shame that the other guy who, while not spectacular, could be counted on to make good decisions and manage the game got shafted in some sham qb competition and is now "hurt" and unavailable. Sleep in the bed you shit in, Simple Jim.

Yep

Illinois is the best defense left on the schedule before Ohio State. I'm not counting on them to be the ones to slow down Corum though.

I hate Bert as much as the next guy, but he's put together an excellent (maybe elite) defense at Illinois, and playing this kind of game is what Bert was built for. That and buffets...and skank chasing. Bert is absolutely built for those three things.

And they host the Illini the week before The Game. ( same day the Bucks need to stay focused on Maryland) I don't think Illinois can score enough on scUM, but that's a perfect "trap game" scenario.

I don't want a trap game scenario. I want a Ohio State/Clemson beats the shit out of each other, then plays well rested LSU for the title scenario. Can Illinois deliver the Walmart version of that?
