2023 Ohio High School Playoffs

Massillon vs Hoban. Worse than dropped pass. Hoban was 3rd and 1 at the 6. Center hiked it over the QB head who is a tall kid

Hoban actually outplayed Massillon... up and down the field but it got comical at times the refs would call like 3 consecutive penalties on Hoban at a time... can't think of any series they didn't flag Hoban for at least once... and yes, I'm a Hoban homer... but it looked like Remember the Titans and the penalties...

Watterson imploding today. Interception at their own 40. Muffed punt at their own 20 with a minute left. Muffed catch by their punter at their own 40. All leading directly to TCC touchdowns. It’s going to take a miracle with the way the Irish are playing on defense.

Lost a state wide academic challenge to Watterson in high school. Afterwards, the hot chick on their team told me they had the questions being used and had practiced them for months (and I got nowhere with her). Never forget, never forgive, fuck Watterson.

D1 Final

St. Edward - 31
Springfield - 21

That's three straight for St. Ed's in the title game over Springfield. Their sophomore RB went for 32/235/3.
Hell of an effort by Springfield, St. Ed's is just too much to handle in the trenches. Crazy we had the same D1 final game three years in a row...wondering if that has ever happened in Ohio at the D1 level? Either way, Springfield can hold their heads high on how they finished this season after a rough start.

They played great, it was tied in the 4th but just got worn down too much on the lines.

And I don't believe so - I know that no one has threepeated in D1 before except for St. Ignatius when they had their 5 peat from 91-95. They didn't have any of the same back to back matchups from what I can tell at https://www.ohsaa.org/sports/history/ft/state_results.htm

D5 Final

Perry - 21
Liberty Center - 14

Perry's first state title ever, which is also the alma mater of former TE Luke Farrell and current (for now....) head coach of the Chargers, Brandon Staley. 16-0 year, helluva job Pirates!

D4 Final
Glenville- 38
Alter- 3

@bigdog3300 feel free to provide commentary
But it seemed like total domination by Glenville

This one felt over in the 1st quarter, Glenville was on another level....was 26-3 at half, Damarion Witten had two TD receptions and looked fantastic. Semi's are always interesting because Glenville had a tough game from Canton South and Alter destroyed Steubenville, so for Alter to go from 48-0 to 3-38 is a heckuva roller coaster ending.

Thanks to all who contributed and followed along - until 2024 it's only fitting to end with BOOM, WHACK, THUD - TARBLOOD!
