Hear me out....
  • Maybe Petitti's and the B1G hands were tied in some legal way this was the best they could do now.
  • Maybe Petitti and the B1G are going full Mafia style torture, suspend Harbaugh, they keep it next week its one of the coordinators?
  • Maybe I'm completely wrong and Petitti is gonna get canned by Monday morning....
The council signed off on this, so I don't think Petitti is in too much danger.

From the Letter:

E. The NCAA Provides Its Evidentiary Conclusions to the University and the Conference About the Scheme

On November 2, a senior Conference staff member and I participated in a call with NCAA President Baker, other senior NCAA staff members, and the University’s Athletic Director, General Counsel, and outside counsel. During that call, the NCAA informed the Conference and the University that, based on its investigation and the evidence it had collected, the NCAA “knew and could prove” the following:

• the staff member participated in and coordinated a vast off campus, in-person advance scouting scheme involving a network of individuals;
• he purchased and forwarded tickets for games involving future University football opponents, and the tickets were for seats strategically located for stealing the future opponents’ signs;
• he and others acting at his direction video recorded signs used by future University opponents while attending the opponents’ games in person; 6
• information, including videos of future opponents’ signs, was delivered back to the staff member by those who had attended the games and taken the videos at his direction; and
• during the time in question, including through the University’s seventh game of the 2023 season, the staff member was present on the University’s sidelines, dressed similarly to University coaches, in close proximity to University coaches, and he communicated directly with such coaches.

In light of this information, the NCAA informed the University and me that the existence of the impermissible scheme by this University football staff member was “uncontroverted.” The NCAA indicated that it was continuing its investigation to determine, among other things, who else knew about and/or was involved in the scheme.

Anyone who thinks tsun is getting off light on this should read the above quoted.

The NCAA is telling the B1G "we have them dead to rights. We just want to make sure we get them all when we drop the hammer"

Add this to the unprecedented steps they have taken so far in the COVID recruiting scandal "It's NOT just a cheeseburger" and rejecting tsun's self imposed 3 game suspension and one just has to come to the conclusion that tsun is going to get shit hammered.

I'm biased as hell but there really isn't any other way to read this. The B1G's suspension of Harbaugh is just red meat to keep the other 13 happy...for now.

Much more is coming. I'd bet anything on it.

In fairness to Petiti he is constrained by the B1G bylaws. I believe the punishment was pretty much all he could do. There is not enough info from the NCAA to target specific coordinators and no authority to do anything else.

And for all that what little we may have is unprecedented.

and the scarlet letter has been pinned to his chest for all time

don't anyone lose sight of that

It will eat his simple ass alive

I'd rather the Big Ten had done nothing and punted to the NCAA. This so-called "discipline" actually helps tCun – their "Us Against the World!!!" morale boost will far outweigh the loss of Booger Eater on the sidelines.

Exactly. You've given them enough material to turn Harbaugh into a martyr, but not enough to actual punish them.

An emotional edge they'll carry the rest of the season that, again IMHO, the Bucks have failed to meet the last couple years.

They've embraced the villain role much like what Miami did in the early 2000s.

Edit: first batch of Xmas ale just dropped. I'm going to go ruin a few weeks worth of great workouts now and toast one to the Bucks. Up to them to put an end to this silly run scUM is on. Later, boys.

I think it all has to do with legalities, and the threat of a suit. But I also believe due to that threat the B1G will make certain to facilitate further punishments.

Yeah, but fuck Michigan though. Big 10 didn't take that into account.

Yes 100%.

They’re going to get the belt this off season and it’s going to be bad

I would not be at all surprised that what took so long today is that the lawyers got involved and the discussions took a long time... and the lawyers made them take out some punishments that they were going to hand down.

IF that happened, and IF we find out about it, I will call those lawyers feckless cowards. Some lawyers will only advise putting up fights that they KNOW that they can win, and they are far too conservative about making that determination. Those lawyers are cowards with fools for clients. Not saying that happened here, but it wouldn't surprise me.
