Ohio State’s 2024 NFL draft class is its smallest in 11 years.

For the first time in over a decade, Ohio State had fewer than five players selected as only four members of last year’s roster were chosen in this year’s NFL draft: Marvin Harrison Jr., Mike Hall, Cade Stover and Tommy Eichenberg.

Ohio State’s four selections are the fewest they’ve had in a draft since 2013, when Johnathan Hankins, John Simon and Reid Fragel were the only Buckeyes drafted.

Two other former Ohio State players who did not finish their careers at OSU were selected in the late rounds of the draft. Former OSU cornerback Ryan Watts, who transferred to Texas in 2022, was selected in the sixth round (No. 195 overall) by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Former Buckeye defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste, who transferred to Notre Dame in 2023 after five years at Ohio State, was selected in the seventh round (No. 222 overall) by the Washington Commanders.

Five members of last year’s Ohio State football team who entered the 2024 NFL draft went undrafted: safety Josh Proctor, linebacker Steele Chambers, wide receiver Xavier Johnson, guard Matt Jones and running back Miyan Williams. Each of them will now look to sign with NFL teams as undrafted free agents.

Going into this year’s draft, Ohio State had a streak of 10 consecutive drafts in which at least five players who finished their college football careers were selected. That was the second-longest streak among all schools behind only Alabama, which extended its streak of drafts with at least five picks to 15 straight years.

Ohio State should have a more prolific draft in 2025 after a multitude of draft-eligible players who would have likely been selected this year chose to stay at Ohio State for their senior seasons instead. Running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, left guard Donovan Jackson, defensive ends Jack Sawyer and JT Tuimoloau, defensive tackle Tyleik Williams and cornerbacks Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock are among the players who likely would have been drafted this year that will instead play another season for the Buckeyes in 2024.

Three Sons of NFL Greats Reportedly Learn Fates on Draft's Last Day​

On the last day of the NFL draft, three legendary football families have reportedly added new members to the league.

The first came Saturday during the waning rounds of the draft. In the seventh round, the Los Angeles Chargers took USC wide receiver Brenden Rice with the 225th pick—the son of Hall of Fame former San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jerry Rice. Rice caught 45 passes for 791 yards in 12 games with the Trojans this season.

Later, two more sons of NFL greats reportedly inked contracts as undrafted free agents.
