Congrats! I assume you'll be coming to Columbus? I'm currently a junior in Columbus.

The best advice that I can give is to go to class. But other important pieces of advice are have fun, go to sporting events, and pay attention to special events on campus. I always go to the comedy shows. Those are hilarious. There's always something happening on campus or around it.

As a recent graduate my advice is don't take any tough classes, ever.

Ok, kidding, but at the very least don't take any tough classes your freshmen year. The worst way to start off your career at Ohio State is to have to deal with a crap-load of classes while at the same time trying to adjust to college life. Classes aren't important your first year. Yeah, you should do well at school. But you are setting yourself up for failure if you load your schedule when you haven't figured out how to deal with the stress yet.

So saying that... Autumn quarter - get football tickets, go tailgating, check out a Skull Session, go to house parties, rush a frat or a sorority if you are into that, and expect to meet more people than you've ever met before. Winter quarter - get basketball tickets, check out the 18 and over clubs around campus (fewer and fewer of them these days), get to know your floor mates better, etc. Spring quarter - get drunk every night you can without flunking out of school. I'm not even joking. The weather is nice, and everyone is having a party somewhere on campus, every night.

If you didn't load up your schedule with needlessly hard classes, then you can have a blast your freshmen year without getting stressed out. Leave the hard work for the other three or four years of college.

Congrats.

Campus has changed a ton since I graduated in 99, but I'd simply advise you to do everything you can...play intramurals, hang out at every spot you've heard of or read about and explore the ones you observe (it kills me to hear tOSU folks say they've never tried the Stube or the Blue Danube or eaten a Burrito as big as their Head), go to games, skip class to chill on the Oval during the Spring, etc etc etc...

join a fraternity, drink as much as possible and bang as many chicks as you can because once you graduate and get a real job your life will suck:biggrin:

seriously, never schedule a class with a teacher you aren't familiar with. ask around and always try to get best teachers (not always the easiest). this will make a huge difference in your academic career. every time i scheduled a class with a teacher i didn't know i regretted it. good luck at OSU!!!

Congrats on getting in. I didn't go to OSU but my advice is to do a little bit of everything. Go drink a little, check out the social hangouts, get involved in some clubs or a sport but remember why you are there......to go to class and get that degree that will make you and your family proud. Enjoy it my friend for these will be the greatest times of your life.
