Adam "Pacman" Jones (Cincinnati Bengals)

I would be concerned if Jones was found not guilty of all the charges against him, but that isn't the case. According to the above article, he has been put on probation (more than once) and has had a probation officer, which means he was indeed either convicted of a crime, or the evidence was found sufficient to convict.

I am interested to see if the NFL is retroactively applying the beefed-up conduct rules to past crimes. I think the players' union will have some legs to stand on if that is the case.

No, he hasn't been convicted...however one of the cases he had to stay out of trouble of the charges would be brought up again...

I also read that he's been arrested 4 times, the others are just interviews/questions from police...

What gets me is that Chris Henry spends time in jail on convictions and gets HALF of what Pacman gets...What the hell message does that send?

Then you have Merriman who actually CHEATED THE GAME...who gets half of what Henry got, and is also celebrated by the league and made the Pro Bowl...

The NFL is a damn joke...

He's on probation, so you can guess he pled to something. Besides, he violated explicit NFL rules when he failed to report one of his arrests to the Titans.

Wow, do I feel like I'm somehow coming to the "defense" of Pacman Jones -- but the whole lack-of-due-process thing makes me more than a little uneasy.

I could see the NFL putting it to a guy this way - accept this punishment, or conversely wait and if you are convicted we'll double it - but taking actions based solely on arrests seems unreasonable to me.

seriously, do you know anything about him or were his 'millions' go? i personally think he's fucking shit up and probably deserves the season suspension, if for nothing more to open his eyes.. but that comment is fucking redic and ignorant.

Well I know 80K of it gets carried into a strip club to start a riot that resulted in people getting shot, otherwise I am pretty sure it probably goes to lawyers to keep his ass out of jail. Whether you want to call my comments ignorant or not, there's one thing about this, if it were anyone who is not famous they would be in jail. Look at some of the major court cases over the past 10 years, it shows us that with enough money you can fight almost any case.

That's why I said it's a shame that money like that goes to a person like that, he's not really "learning" anything other than that he gets a year off, which more than likely will get reduced by the players union.

Jones caught speeding days before appeal

TERESA M. WALKER

Associated Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Adam "Pacman" Jones promised in a full-page ad that he had learned a lifetime of lessons in recent weeks. The Tennessee Titans' cornerback may have had a hard time convincing NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that really is true. Jones met Friday in New York with the man who suspended him from the NFL for the 2007 season for conduct detrimental to the league. The cornerback appealed for leniency during his second meeting with Goodell since April 3.
But Goodell went into the hearing knowing Nashville police ticketed Jones for speeding four days before Friday's hearing. League officials declined to comment, and a decision was not expected Friday.
Jones' lawyer, Manny Arora, accompanied the player, but declined to comment after the hearing.

Las Vegas police hope to charge 'Pacman'

KEN RITTER

Associated Press

LAS VEGAS - Police planned to meet with prosecutors Wednesday, hoping recent information would allow them to charge Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones for a February melee inside a strip club.
Investigators have been unable to prove a link between the scuffle and a shooting moments later that left a club employee paralyzed and two other people wounded outside the club, police Lt. George Castro said Tuesday.
"We have nothing on the shooter and nothing about what happened outside," Castro told The Associated Press, declining to say what new information had been developed. "That's what we're trying to piece together."

Titans' Jones accepts NFL suspension

DAVE GOLDBERG

Associated Press

NEW YORK - Adam "Pacman" Jones dropped his appeal of a yearlong suspension Tuesday, pledging to repair an image that made the Tennessee Titans cornerback the poster child for NFL misconduct.
His decision came after a third meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell.
"I understand my responsibilities to my teammates, the Titans and my fans and I am committed to turning my life around and being a positive member of the NFL," Jones said in a statement issued by newly hired agent Michael Huyghue.

Pacman Jones' lawyer demands evidence

KEN RITTER

Associated Press

LAS VEGAS - Adam "Pacman" Jones' lawyer urged authorities Thursday to file criminal charges or stop trying to link the Tennessee Titans cornerback to a strip club melee and triple shooting.
Attorney Robert Langford said no evidence tied Jones to the shooting, and DNA comparisons failed to show the NFL star was responsible for a bite injury reported during the February mayhem. He termed what happened a "glorified bar fight at best."
"It is really unfair to Mr. Jones that they continue to assert some investigation when they can't come up with any more evidence," Langford said.
