Alabama 41, Georgia 30 (Final)

I plan on voting them #2 in the BP poll tomorrow.

That's what they've earned, in my opinion, season-to-date. I don't vote based on where I think they'll end up.

Well, the team goes out and beats Clemson's ass, then fails to score an offensive TD against Tulane, has another win, then plays huge in a big game, gets a 31 point lead before half. Until they get knocked off, maybe by LSU, or AU, they'll be at the top. Saban is a good coach.

They aren't just going to walk over LSU. Auburn+Tenny could always give them problems as well. Every week is different
Without doubt. The SEC is a tough conference. But, as far as "uh-oh" games go, you have LSU, Tennessee, and Auburn.

Auburn has Georgia and 'Bama, but they have already played Tennessee and LSU. They also have to play West Virginia in a non-conference game.

LSU still has to play Florida, Georgia, and 'Bama. That is tough.

Florida still has to play LSU, Georgia, and, if you think highly enough of them, Vandy. South Carolina always gives them trouble too.

Georgia has to play Tennessee (If you still consider this to be a problem for a non-rival), Vandy, LSU, Florida, Auburn, and Georgia Tech.

Alabama one the softest possible roads through the SEC. Granted, that is still a gauntlet of sorts. But, since Tennessee is down this year, it won't be nearly as hard as, say, Georgia, Florida, or LSU. That was the point I was trying to make.

This is a good win for a very young team. I think it goes without saying that there has been a little bit of skeptecism nationally about how good Georgia might be. But handling a good team in their own house in a night game says alot. I will admit that I honestly believed Alabama was the most overated team in the country and it was ridiculas that they were ranked in the top ten. They deserve their ranking for not only what they have done, but for what others cannot do. Win. Only time will tell if this was a team that has truly arrived or if they just got Georgia on a day similar to our game against Illinois last year. The one thing I want to see yet from Alabama is how they handle adversity if they fall behind in a hostile stadium like say maybe Death Valley?

I think voters are sending a message this season that they have not sent for quite some time, lose lopsided or lose to a team you should beat and we are going to penalize you. I see USC, Georgia and Florida, fair or not, taking a substantial tumble tomorrow. I think UF gets penalized the most, they lost at home to a clearly inferior team. Georgia at least lost to a team that is ranked, but it was pretty lopsided at home, that final score is NO indication of how bad they got beat. And USC at least did it on the road but what it is going to hurt them is that it was on a Thursday night when they were the ONLY game in town. Most pollsters not only got the score but also saw the game and heard about nothing but it on ESPiN on Friday.

Very bizarre week to say the least, and Conference play is just beginning. Buckle up, it's looking like a long and bumpy ride. 2007 looks like it was just the opening act.

Nostradamus would like a word with you

I meant to say Alabama :p

Needless to say I'm shocked by the result, didn't see this at all. I honestly didn't believe Bama was ready yet to hang with the big boys because they beat a very overrated Clemson team, an awful Arkansas team and struggled against Tulane at home. But this is definitely a huge statement win. I will grudgingly give Saban some credit for turning them around, but we will still crush them at Tiger Stadium.
