Anyone check on @Gcashwell in the past 24-36 hours?
I’m ok. I’m not happy that Downs will likely be at UGA, but I understand it. I know someone that helped put together the new NIL deal Bama offered downs. It was big, and not likely a reason for his departure.

It won’t be an easy time for coach. He will have to be ready for spring to fill any gaps.

I’m not one of those people that are scared of change, and I feel that if somebody doesn’t want to be somewhere, they should leave. It keeps things simple for me.

Bama fans decrying the corruption and broken nature of college football...what a sight to see.
I think a lot of fans didn’t realize these kids wanted to learn from Saban. Bama wasnt a big deal. Saban was s big deal.

Now that he’s gone, these kids need to find the best opportunity to 1) make money now and 2) learn to play their position in the NFL.

Spot on. Trying to keep people around who don’t want to be someplace isn’t a good way to build a winning anything.

I have never been a part of the recruiting process. I wasn't recruited. I've never recruited someone. My kids aren't going to be recruited. So I'll take your word for it. But I would have thought that Bama IS a big deal. I mean, don't they try to sell the high school recruits on Alabama? "We have 100 national championships and 200 players in the NFL" (or whatever the actual numbers are).
Is there a chance that this is a "perception is reality" thing? Imagine being a sophomore this year. You'll be a junior next year. You expect to start and the team is expected to compete for a conference championship and get to the playoffs. Then, Saban, largely considered to be the greatest coach of this era, and maybe all time, chooses to retire. "Oh no!!! Will we be able to compete without him?" You start second-guessing. And you get a chance to transfer to a team that doesn't have that uncertainty. And 25% of the team is sitting there with the same thoughts. So they start transferring. It looks like rats off a sinking ship, but they're really the employees. With them, and you're fine. But without them, and the ship sinks.
And I would never criticize someone for making a decision that helps his situation. Go leave this spot for a better spot for you. Good luck.
