All-Jim Tressel Era Team

Is that an OL or a Rimington Candidate Line?

I'd put Rob Sims on the line for one of the centers (Stepanovich or Mangold, no way I'd take Bentley off) and Clarett on the first team

Well, I'd put Mangold at Center, Stepanovich and Bentley at guard. That's a fairly dominating interior.

I'd put Pittman over Clarett. Durability has to be taken into account.

Just think of all the interesting pre-snap adjustments that are possible when the offense has three centers! :tongue2:

I'd have Gamble and Fox at CB and Whitner and Doss at S. Groom gets the nod over Sander at P.

As for the RB spot, I'd have Pittman over Clarett, because the season is longer than six games. With this O-Line and guys like Holmes, Jenkins, and Hartsock drawing the attention of opposing secondaries, just about any former OSU back could run for 2,000 yards in this offense. Character matters for this team, so Pittman is tops on my list; J-Wells is my second teamer.

Durability as true freshman, neither was all that durable. Mo was more dominating in the games he played in. Pittman can/will take over the spot on my list after this season.

QB is a toss up between Krenzel and Smith. No injury against N.C. State probably means we go undefeated, Krenzel is 3-0 against M******* and has two MNCs. Right now, as fourth year juniors Craig and Troy are both 2-0 going against M******* and Craig has the MNC and Fiesta Bowl MVP.

I believe he was saying that CK would have been 3-0 vs scUM if he had not gotten injured against the Wolfpack.

Yeah, that's what he's saying, I believe. I disagree though. CK being banged up is not why we lost that game. The defense's refusal to tackle Chris Perry is the reason. Unless a healthy Krenzel could fix that problem, I don't see the outome changing.

As far as the list, I would keep Pittman over MoC. As someone else stated, character is taken into consideration.

I would also give Krenzel a slight nod over Troy. Hopefully that changes after this season!

Yes, that is what I was saying. Also, a healthy Krenzel all year translates to the defense being on the field less during the course of the season, IMO. Our defense was just beat up. They spent the entire season winning games for us, and they didn't have anything left against a team with a top 5 Heisman finalist at runningback.

all tressel team

I also think that we need to add a position for a leader/locker room guy that may not have made the impact on the field but represents everything that tressel is trying to build at OSU.

My vote goes for Thomas Mathews for this category. He was a real leader back in 2004 on a team that was rebuilding and trying to find its identity. He laid the groundwork for guys like Nate Salley and AJ to lead that defense last year.

This topic will be a lot more interesting in a couple of years, when we can limit the discussion to the players who were really Tressel's from start to finish (class of 2002 and forward). Half of your team are players who were, at least in part, from the Cooper era.
