the LTE Patent lawsuits from Samsung & HTC should make it interesting ... other than that... Android phones have had these specs since last year (cept the camera, one thing i hate about android phones)... but this is Apple's style.

New post for iOS 6...

Siri navigation, routing, directions
New search engine offers 100 million local points of interest
The maps demo is quite nice -- zooming, 3D building, turn-by-turn navigation...Satellite imagery with flyover mode
Safari: new fullscreen view
Passbook: There are coupons and movie tickets. No NFC.
Delta and Starwood Hotels join Starbucks and other already-announce (or at least shown) providers
Shared photo-stream feature is being demoed now
Time for Siri updates -- and again, we've seen a lot of this announced at WWDC. Sports teams, app launching
You can ask for movie recommendations... Rotten Tomato ratings drive movie recommendations
From Siri, you can find restaurants and then launch Open Table to make reservations
Scott F posted an update t Facebook by voice. That's cool.
3GS and newer and iPad2 and newer get iOS 6 on Sept 19

Music, iPod & iTunes announcements...

iTunes will launch a new iOS store design
You can preview a song now and browse away without it stopping
Mac and PC clients receive updates today too
New iTunes is "dramatically simpler" with a big grid, simplified interface
"When you click on an album it expands in place." Sort of like folders on iOS. Lots of mobile design cues here... You can still get to the song list view and playlists
"lots of modal windows, notifications"
Songs can be queued (jlb1705: thank goodness)... You can use a "coming next" button to change the order of upcoming tracks... Click "Play Next" to add an item to the queue at the next position
Next, the movies library -- iCloud shares positions... The position syncs automatically so you can pick up playback as you switch devices
New iTunes ships late October (not today)
7th gen iPod nano introduced...It's got a 2.5-inch multi-touch display... Video is supported as well as photos... As usual fitness and pedometer -- but now BLUETOOTH!
iPod Touch updated... Aluminum back, brushed finish -- won't get all scratchy... Retina display... 4-inch display, like the iPhone... Offers the A5 processor (vs the iPhone's A6)
Speaker on the bottom + Lightning connector, headphone jack -- and Engadget says yes, it's the same as the iPhone display.
iPod Touch camera: 5 MP backside illuminated, f/2.4, five element lens and again the same sapphire crystal cover... iPod touch also offers that cool panorama feature... 1080p video with image stabilization, iMovie support, FaceTime HD front camera, 720p... Face detection support
There is a button on the back of the touch, called the "loop"... You can attach a wrist-strap to it.
New earbuds are being called "EarPods"... whatever
The shape is defined by ear geometry -- but they don't seal the ear the way other in-ear units do
You can buy them standalone and are included with the new touch, nano, and iPhone 5... These ship today.
New iPods ship in October.

1 week until iOS 6 drops. I was hoping a little sooner - I've been dying to get my hands on it.

iPhone 5 looks pretty sweet. Not sweet enough to get me to pay a premium to upgrade early though.

New iPods look slick. I disagree when they say these are the best they've ever made though. The 80 GB 5th-gen. iPod is still the boss.

I'm skeptical about iTunes updates. I'd rather see them simplify than add features. It's really bloated and sluggish.

New earbuds - meh. They could be worthwhile if they weren't painful to wear, but I doubt they'll be too much different that other earbuds in that regard.

So is the headphones jack on the bottom? I didn't see an image with it

I didn't see a picture of that either.

I really wish apple would idiot proof the video camera. I am so tired of seeing vertical videos, and seemingly 90% of spectators at a game, concert or major event are holding their HD cameras in portrait mode :bonk:
