BCS predictions/discussion/Knock Em' Off

Some interesting items on USF:

Today's game was USF's best offensive performance of the year, and their quarterback Matt Grothe was only 15-28. He did get 100 yards rushing which is good, but he had twice as many yards and carries as their starting RB. In other words, despite their point total today, their offense has some glaring flaws that are being overlooked on their "superior" resume.

Also of note, USF held the nations leading rusher Kevin Smith under 100 yards today, making this the 14th straight game they have not allowed a 100-yard rusher. The last player to crack the century mark? That would be Ray Rice - whose team USF will face next. Rice went for 212 yards on them last year.

First of many articles trashing us and basically calling for the SEC champ to be named NC.

Anarchy reigns
By Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports
October 13, 2007

When it comes to the Bowl Championship Series (or at least the inevitable death of the stupid thing) I, like any right thinking person without a direct rooting interest, have become a situational anarchist.
The more profoundly screwed up, controversial and embarrassing the college football championship system gets, the better.
Only something completely ridiculous can spur a storming of the castle, a rebellion by the television folks or the SEC deciding to stand up for its self-interests. The BCS does a terrible job of determining a champion. It's designed not to serve the players, coaches or fans, just the corporate coffers favored by the commissioner of the Big Ten.

Seemed to me that he is ranting about the BCS process more than about SOS and tOSU.
Well touch noogies. until someone beats us WE ARE #1 and deserve to play in the NC game. He may not like the process but it's the only process in town and if there were enough proponants of his playoffs then they would happen.

Apparently, this jerk-off has a short-term memory considering EVERY single year there's an SEC coach who makes the claim that the SEC is going to get screwed.
... or that the SEC has more titles (3) under the system than any other conference

SEC (3): '98 Tennessee, '03 LSU, '06 Florida
ACC (1): '99 Florida State
Big XII (2): '00 Oklahoma, '05 Texas
Big East (1): '01 Miami
Big Ten (1): '02 Ohio State
Pac 10 (1): '04 USC

The really whiney ass part of it is that there have been 1 loss teams play for the NC several times under the BCS. Its not like you are automatically eliminated with 1 loss, you just need help. So in that sense it is indeed like a 12 week tourney, between every team in the 6 BCS conferences for the right to play in the NC.

Also, show me a tourney ever created by man that didn't have a little tougher road to the championship for one team, or group of teams, vs another.

NFL: AFC dominates right now, used to be the NFC
NBA: Western Conference teams get the short end of the stick
MLB: AL certainly seems to have the majority of elite teams
NCAA: Always one of the 4 brackets a lot harder than the others...always.
NHL: Who fucking knows but you get the point

If we had a playoff this guy would be one of the first to get his vagina irritated and find something to bitch about with it. Thats what sportswriters do, stir shit up and try to get people to pay attention.

Lets just take care of Sparty.

Everything that has ever taken place in college football is proof in some way, shape or form of the relative strength of the SEC.

Conference Rankings (according to Dan Wetzel)

0.) SEC (They were ranked #1 in last week's rankings. LSU's loss provides a huge boost to the conference though, so the only place to move them up to is #0.)

2.) AFC

3.) NFC

4.) Pac-10 (Because that's what everybody's been saying.)

5.) Big 12

6.) Big East

7.) ACC

8.) Sun Belt

9.) NBA Eastern Conference

10) Big 10

Also receiving votes: Whatever conference Appalachian State is in.

Ok I couldn't help myself....the NAMBLA post was edited, so I put it back with "enhancements"

Dan Wetzel is an author, screenwriter, and national sports columist for Yahoo.com.

He is the author of the sports-related books Sole Influence, Glory Road, and Runnin' Rebel. As a sports journalist, he has covered NASCAR, college football, the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, and the Olympics.

He is a fill-in host on The Sports Inferno in Detroit, Michigan on AM 1270. He would get a regular gig, but he sucks and has a whiny, high-pitched voice, which doesn't sound good on the radio, especially AM radio in Detroit.

He is a lifelong member of NAMBLA and makes Catholic priests in Boston look celibate.

This guy needs to go back to blowing Paul Atkins. (wonder if there somehow related?)

That said: "We faced ZERO quality opponents" which I find just cricket, was it not Washington favored to beat us when we went to play the Huskies?
--hmm: I'd say winning by 20 points while USC winning by a field goal says something. How about Purdue? While they did get crushed by Michigan, thats not to say their offense is putrid, when it in fact is quite decent.
If I wasnt for Minnesota's defense ( or lack of) they play the other side of the ball pretty decent.

Bottom line: this was suppose to be a 2-3 loss team this year and its looking like our poor sports journalists are being proved so wrong its not even close to being funny. Get over it, Michigan beat Purdue and Penn, Illinois beat Wisky, the same Illinois that Iowa beat, then Wisky fell to Penn.

As for the SEC? Auburn loses to USF, Auburn beats Kansas St (whom beat UT) then beats Florida, the same Gators that lost to the (former) #1 LSU, who just got edged by Kentucky. South Carolina beat UK, but couldnt beat LSU... around and around we go.

My point... this guys a fucking douche'; this whole "The SEC is holier than you" attitude is starting to wear on my senses.
