FOX is no dummy... there's too much money to be made on college football (or college athletics in general).

About 4 or 5 years ago I remember reading something about a few MAC and WAS teams that were playing on random tuesday and Wednesday nights. The comment was that it was good for the school because they were getting national air time, and it was good for the station, because they were showing something that was getting allot better ratings then showing billiards or some other random show.

Well if cable was never around then we would all still only have 3/4 stations to watch.

Why is it that people feel the BTN owes them anything? They are there to make money....and some of that profit actually even goes back to the schools. You have options of how you can see the Ohio State games....you have known about these options for almost a year. If you haven't made changes yet, that is your fault not the BTN's

And you could still count on watching the Buckeyes when there was only 3 to 4 stations. I know they are there to make money but they try and act as if it will help the fans. They aren't some Goodwill charity to me and they should just let the cable companies carry the game even if they are going to charge more on a sports tier. DISH just did it, so why can't Time Warner now? Yes you have options if you have money. We save a ton on having TW for cable, phone, and internet...a lot of money. We will have to pay a lot extra to get any other cable provider that is an "option" for the BTN network. So here is the deal...you pay for my "options" and I will quit acting as if "they owe me anything". Not my fault.

No you couldn't. Before the massive amounts of channels/options, the Buckeyes would not have had some of their weak first games televised. I've been to Big Ten games at the 'Shoe that were not televised. No television options were available for those games. Go to the game or listen to it on the radio. That's it. I don't agree with all of the tactics that these people use, but the options are there now, where they weren't before. I can pretty much guarantee that the Buckeyes will never again have an untelevised game. Something that couldn't be said 10-15 years ago.

9-13-1997, I do believe, was the last game in which Ohio State played and was not televised. I know this because I went to that game - against Bowling Green - precisely because it was not televised.

I go back to the day when you were happy to see two football games a week on TV, and watching OSU was a rarity. We have come a long way.

And while many of my shots at the BTN are tongue in cheek, this is the first change in my recollection that has clearly made OSU sports LESS accessible.

I know that is not true for folks who live outside the area, but for the majority of OSU football fans living in Big Ten country the BTN - at this point - is a negative.

You are correct about it being great for those who live outside the Columbus market. As a Direct TV subscriber who lives in Cincinnati, I love it. I don't have to fork over the extra $90 bucks a year to get Game Plan for basketball and I don't have to go to BW3 as often to catch some of the early season football games. I also found that I watched BTN more on Saturday mornings than ESPN last year, it was nice to not have to hear them fellate USC for an hour and actually hear something about the Big 10 other than they are "slow."

In 1967-68 we rarely got to see that fabulous team play. Arguably the greatest Ohio State football team ever.
We've been spoiled by the BTN and should just thank them(and support them) for the great job they're doing! They have done a great job in their first year of existence as a network.

And as a added bonus your telling ESPiN to suck it!

Now that I can agree with. My dad's memory must be off then because he said you could almost always count on watching the Buckeyes when he was growing up.

I'm not sure if this was posted anywhere, but I have to say thanks to the BTN for this. Hopefully this will continue into the fall... during all of Ohio States Big Ten Network games.

You can watch the Ohio State (as well as 9 other Big Ten Schools) Spring Games for free online.

It says "Watch exclusive coverage of Big Ten Spring Football Games Live and On-Demand!"

Under the BTN's FAQ:
Q: Does the Big Ten Network stream games via the Internet?

A: Yes. In our first year, we streamed 10 men's basketball games and 10 spring football games. As we move forward, we are working hard to create and execute a broadband video strategy that will complement the high-quality programming found on our network. Several factors will play a role in determining the breadth and depth of our broadband streaming offering, including rights issues and negotiations with cable and satellite providers. Keep an eye on Big Ten Network for the latest information.

Hopefully it will continue into the fall... I can hope at least.

The only thing I had issues with about the replay is that they seemed to completely miss some plays and the camera man got caught napping a few times. Anyone else feel this way?

Overall, since I'm in Arizona, I was damn glad to get to see it at all!
