Big Ten Power Rankings

MSU - 187
Purdue - 150
Illinois - 141
Minny - 138
tOSu - 130
Wisky - 110
Michigan - 90
PSU - 70
NW - 53
Iowa - 36
Indiana - 17

MSU with all the first place votes...Indiana still perfect...

The middle is really murky...I think it is going to be like that the rest of the way...Lots of teams with chances to make statements, but have not like Illinois when losing the lead they had over MSU...

Could turnout this week...With 17 participants...

Penn St. smokes Michigan by 15, 73-58. And it really wasn't that close.
Did not see the game but when Michigan is bad they are very bad and Penn State can give any team in the Big 10 a good run. They have three guys who can really create and score and have some good outside shooting. The only thing that they lack is a good big man. Cornley would make a nice 4 but is a little deficient when he has to play the 5 defensively.

RE: PSU/SCUM - Ugly beginning to the game, lots of bricks for both sides. But then again I don't think Battle hit anything other then a 3 until very late in the game...and one of the 3s happened to be a fade-away 3 - when stuff like that is falling we can win. The real problem has been David Jackson falling into a black hole and Andrew Brooks not emerging...Brooks particularly considering the level of recruit he was. We need that help from Jackson/Brooks at the 3 & 4 as well as 10-15 + from Battle, Pringle, Cornley if we're going to win most games against good teams When we get tested inside we're screwed because Cornley is 6'5 at best...but he is beastly both with his play and demeanor. Our C Andrew Jones should be a 4 at 6'9 with some raw athleticism....coaches trying to feed him into being a 5. That being said Andrew Jones is my favorite player and as of late he has had some very big plays.

Iowa W
@ MSU L
@ UM W
Wisky W - fringe game, must win IMHO; particularly with a follow up @ Purdue
@ Pur L - good health
Minny L
@ ILL L
@ OSU L
Indiana W
Ill W
@ Iowa W

We've made some marginal improvement for sure, but losing Cornley will really challenge the direction of this program; not easy for a BBall program like PSU to lose Claxton & Cornley in consecutive years. Chris Babb & C. Woodyard are getting some game reps and Babb looks to replace Morrisey's shooting from the outside but it will be interesting to see how this team responds. We've got another kid like Battle committed right now from TX (Tim Frazier), a 3* on both sites that can blow by with ease and is a pest defender. Also Talor Battle's brother is T. Buie, a big time national recruit...get him and maybe PSU finally has that guy that can put the program on the map.

What about Wisky? Bad loss (making it 3 in a row) last night to Iowa, who had been 1-4 in the conference. What's worse, their next 4 games are @Illinois, Purdue, @Northwestern, and Illinois. They'll be lucky to win two of those. I've said it all along this year--that team's been given too much credit based on what it's done in previous seasons. They just don't have much this year.

Looks like they were all out the last time Bo Ryan went to the Smoke-and-Mirrors Store. :tongue2:

Northwestern probably would have beaten most of the teams in the country last night. I would not take them lightly. They are well disciplined as always and Coble probably would start for any team in the Big 10.

Wisconsin is really an enigma. They have 3-4 starters from a team that did pretty well last season. Losing to Iowa at their house is no disgrace but the Badgers really haven't shown up all season. Where is Bernini:huh:

Purdue versus Minnesota tonight will be very interesting but I would expect the Gophers to win at Williams Arena. However, always cheer for the opposition when they play at that place:(

I don't think he's posted here since Wisconsin went on their losing streak...you therefore may not hear from him for awhile more, judging by UW's upcoming schedule. :p
