Game Thread Buffalo Bulls at tOSU, Aug 31, 12 ET, ESPN2

I was at the Nats game last night and a Bulls alumnus was sitting behind me. He noticed my hat and informed me that their running back would have 200 yards as he had 190 vs Georgia last year (he had 111) and that their premier linebacker would have at least 5-6 tackles for loss...

Brandon Oliver had 111 yards on 30 carries (3.7 ypc), and one of those carries was for 36 yards. So, he averaged 2.6 ypc on his other 29 carries against the Dawgs. This was for an offense that was held to 7 points by Kent State, 3 points by Northern Illinois, 6 points by Pittsburgh, and 7 points by Bowling Green, and finished 99th in scoring offense at 21.25 ppg (and that 21.25 ppg was inflated by a 56-point outburst against a 3-8 Morgan State out of the FCS).

BTW, according to him Ohio State will escape with a 7-10 point win. We shall see.

Now that is funny. Imagine a 9 year old Urbie walking up to the tree on a fine Christmas morning. Much like that day so many years ago, URBAN has some shiny new toys and he's going to open them up.

I'm sure they'll show up and play hard and probably exceed what I expect of them but I'd like some of what he was smoking.

Just tip the Cracker Jack vendor and they go away, Bill.

Did you get his number so you can check in after the beat down?

Went back and calculated their scoring average after taking out the 56 points against an FCS school...18.1 ppg. They only way they score more than 10 points will be because of first-game kinks in our defense.

Where are the annual trolling/semi-trolling alums/fans of the non-conference foes that usually show up this time of year to extol the virtues of their potentially giant slaying upstart mid major team? I am missing the hilarity so far this year (and the guy at the Nats game doesn't count as that was second hand).:(

I think Buffalo will escape with a plunger lodged up their ass.

Usually more of an in-state phenomenon.

I think Ohio State will cover the spread - however, I don't think Brax will run that much, and I suspect that we will see an offense that isn't showing much different from last year in terms of play calling - which reportedly was about 1/3 of what Herman wants to do. For Buffalo it should be very basic with a few teases thrown in. They will save the good, new stuff for Cal (if needed) and Wisky (which I think will be the first game we will see it all in full force).

But hey, if they want to come out in week 1 with the full package, I won't complain. Gotta save Brax some hits tho.

I don't understand why people are complaining about Ohio State's schedule.

I mean we're the only ones playing an NFL team on our first game.

I mean yeah it's a team that couldn't win the Super Bowl in the 90s no matter how often they got there, but its still an NFL team.
