Cam Akers (RB Los Angeles Rams)

This is the classy and PROPER way to do it, IMO. If you aren't 100% sure and want to keep taking visits and have an open mind. Then de-commit publicly and let the world know where you stand honestly and above board.

I am sick of all the kids that claim they are 100% committed but keep taking visits. That is just "holding a spot until something better comes along" - which is not the stand-up honorable way.

Coaches shouldn't offer unless it is commitable and un-retractable ( except in maybe rare circumstances where a kid stops performing in the classroom like he was or commits a felony or something dramatic ). Yes, that means stringing kids along more and possibly losing planBs more often - but IMO that is part of the JOB and why they get paid millions. Lying to kids about offer/OFFER and screwing them over is a bad example to set and since they are faculty IMO it is both dishonest and immoral and corrupt to play such games with 17 and 18 year old kids - as 40,50,60 year old men!

I don't mind late offers or trying to flip kids, but if it is at the expense of others ( reneging on committed kids without major extenuating circumstances ) it is downright sleazy and plain wrong, IMO. Unethical and unprofessional behavior by coaches should not be dismissed as some kind of right. Cheating kids is no better than cheating the NCAA rules, IMO it is actually much worse. What Tress did was trivial BS, IOW. Coaches that pull the rug out on a kid's future by lying and cheating to get a small edge on the 85 limit - is much more egregious.
Sorry but I think you're living in a fairy-tale land. It's nice that Cam committed publicly, but he in no way owed it to any coach to do so. Coaches leave programs yearly for other programs with no regard for the kids they left, and I don't think any kid owes a school(or any fan base) any reason for why he decommitted. As long as his family is comfortable with his own decision, is all that matters. I'm completely fine with kids taking visits after they're committed, because make no mistake, that coach is still recruiting over that player regardless of a verbal commitment(which in essence mean nothing). Urban and his staff certainly recruit players but have a plan b, c, d and e already in place. Our committments dont just appear.
Coaches have a job to do, and an obligation to win games, and hopefully make respectable citizens, but lets be honest, they're there to win games. An offer vs OFFER is a part of the game, and lets not act like kids don't have any power in the recruiting game, because they do, and its the only the power they have before they become property of the school they sign with. Get real buddy

Rivals $ - Akers ready to visit Ohio State

Cam is feeling the local pressure to stay in-state at Ole Miss or Mississippi State. The Akers famiy visited UGA last weekend & loved their time in Athens. Cam likes that Coaches Meyer & Alford can help him get to the next level. The Akers family will be leaving straight from the Rivals Camp in NOLA to Columbus for their upcoming visit to tOSU.

BN $ - Country's No. 3 RB Cam Akers and his mother love Ohio State

Cam says the visit went great & both he and his mother loved their time at tOSU. They took in the practice session this morning as well as toured the campus. Coach Meyer told Cam what he could do in the offense & he will be returning to Columbus in the future.

You take Akers and Dobbins no matter what...

Not sure how that's going to work especially with Sibley committed too. If Akers commits then one of the other 2 will leave. I think Dobbins is the best of the 3 so I don't know if you risk pushing him out by accepting Akers. Starting to look like last years situation a little bit. Interested to see how it plays out. I hope it doesn't turn into last years situation but I understand why the staff changed their pursuit of the position last year.

The staff wants at least two RBs and already has Dobbins and Sibley in the fold but is chasing Akers and Harris. You don't turn down Akers or Harris but luckily they aren't deciding for awhile so the staff has time before they have to worry about numbers. You keep chasing them and let things play out however they will.
