CB Bradley Roby (2x All B1G, Philadelphia Eagles)

Dave Biddle going off on Roby on twitter tonight. He's acting like Roby could have played but quit on the team. What does he know that we don't?
Quit on the team? The dude left millions of dollars on the table to come back this season and possibly hurt his draft grade significantly. I wouldn't risk any further damage to that stock or serious injury to play in what is ultimately just an exhibition game, healthy or not.
Dave Biddle @DaveBiddle 1h

I hope Roby can look his teammates in the eyes after quitting on them.
What a fucking drama queen.

Some guys are willing to gut it out and some aren't. That's all it is. Sammy Watkins had an obvious knee injury and had FAR more to lose by aggravating his injury further and he went balls out all night. If Roby doesn't want to, that's his prerogative, but you kind of have to expect to get crapped on when you're chilling there in sweatpants having a good time while countless other guys are ignoring nagging injuries to try to win a football game.

To expand, there were four corners taken in the first round last year: Dee Milliner (9th), D.J. Hayden (12th), Desmond Trufant (22nd), and Xavier Rhodes (25th).

Estimated deals from Over the Cap...
Milliner (9): $7.58M signing bonus + $12.6M/4 years
Hayden (12): $5.8M signing bonus + $10.3M/4 years
Trufant (22): $4.3M signing bonus + $8.1M/4 years
Rhodes (25): $4M signing bonus + $7.8M/4 years

That is a shit load of cash and with a good combine performance Roby could've easily gone top 20. Currently, the mocks on CBS, Walter Football, and Yahoo don't have him going in the 1st at all. Draft Countdown has him going 24th. Whether or not they're right, I doubt he's played himself into the top 20 this year.

He turned down life-altering money once. Sammy Watkins and the rest of the guys that have something to lose can do what they want, but Biddle and anyone else who wants to knock him for (allegedly) wanting to protect himself from losing more than he already has have lost their damn minds.

The point is either come back or don't come back. Don't half come back. He came back, played worse, then more or less quit to prevent further bad play from exacerbating his fall. If Sammy Watkins isn't out on that field, Roby is out there all day long. He sat because he knew he was going to give up yards to Watkins and doing that was going to kill him. It's within his rights to do that, but you take the bad with the good. If you want to sit to protect yourself, you can't act like you were always team first at the same time.

You can choose to view Watkins as a challenge and try to go out there and bust ass to raise your stock or you can sit and be content with making second round cash.

You saw which option was picked out on that field tonight.

eh......Watkins had far more to gain playing against this secondary.

This is both a warning and a lamentation:

We don't typically post player tweets around here, but it's going to be in the news so it's probably best not to tiptoe around it...

Buckeye fans are the best but some of them, sometimes, can be the absolute worst. If any of the stuff he's alluding to starts going on here it will be put to an end swiftly.

This secondary has been so atrociously bad all year long that Watkins potential gain was far far far less than what he could've lost by getting injured and putting up pedestrian numbers. It didn't turn out that way, obviously, but prior to the game he was in a much more concrete position than Roby.

Buckeye fans can be the best, until they're the worst.
