St. V-M's Grant looks ahead
Star cornerback to focus on colleges, other sports

Doran Grant, St. Vincent-St. Mary's star cornerback, all-everything player and member of the Akron Beacon Journal All-Star team, confesses to doing a little scoreboard watching recently.

As the Fighting Irish battled Youngstown Cardinal Mooney only to come up short in the game's waning moments, Grant said he and his teammates paid close attention to what was happening between Buchtel and Parma Padua.

''Everybody in the city, everybody in the county and especially us really wanted to play them again, so we could go on,'' Grant said. ''That first game was good and everything, but we just wanted to beat them in style in a second game.''

After delaying a decision regarding official visits for the season, Grant put four schools on his list of five official visits.

The shutdown cornerback, who is ranked the top recruiting prospect in Ohio and 66th by ESPN's scouting gurus, will tour Michigan State, Ohio State, Southern California and Notre Dame.

Michigan, Iowa, Georgia Tech and Penn State are in the running to be Grant's fifth official visit.
