CB James Scott (official thread)

Thanks for the link. Scott is a tremendously physical corner. I like the way he tackles, and he supports against the run well as a squat corner in zone. He would be a great addition to this class. As a previous poster alluded to, he has nice closing speed. My guess is that this will be a heated recruiting battle with the southern heavyweights. This guy is definitely a good one.

Damn he's good. I realize U. of Florida is a great school, but he can become the next great defensive back at The Ohio State University. To me, it doesn't get any better than that. With his speed, athleticism, and the willingness to knock someone's block off, he could start from day 1 here.

James Scott, come on down!!

On the other hand, I really like where we stand right now.

I second that and I'm very confident on Scott. After watching that film I really have no clue how Scott isn't a top 100 player. The only DB's I would put at the same level at with Scott are maybe Berry, RoJo, and Clifford. I like him better than Berry to be honest because of his physical play. I think Scott comes in and contributes right away on special teams. He would be excellent on kickoff coverage, Field Goal block, and punt block. Not to mention he really has some jets and can return the ball. His football speed is nowhere near 4.58 or whatever he is listed at. That was one amazing highlight film.

This article breaks down all the top CBs in the country, including names like Ronald Johnson, Dionte Allen, Donovan Warren, Gary Gray (he still does not impress me), Ahmad Black, etc. The interesting thing to note is that one of the bits of praise that Scott receives is that he is both the most pyhsical of the top corners and also has the best running skills with the ball in his hands.
