Cbf40's look at '11 recruiting

It will be interesting to see if they can get in on some big time OL from out of state.

Landon Turner from Virginia and Brian Bobek (or Bolek?) from Illinois are 2 big names we are recruiting right now. Tyler Moore from Florida actually holds an offer, and we are in his top 5, but he sounds like a Nebraska lean with his father having played there.

Ed Killingsworth - He has great size. One to keep an eye on for sure.

Killingsworth is 6'3, 198 pounds and still growing. He has good speed as well. 4 TDs on 11 catches through 5 games so far this year (Harding runs a spread, so many players touch the ball).

My Top 40

Posted on another forum, it's a long list so I didn't want to cluster up this thread with a huge list.

Would love any input from you guys, especially if I forgot any notable names. Even at 40 guys it was very tough to leave out some guys like Richie Sanders, but his injury has kept him out of the playoffs which has made it tough for me to see him more. I'm from the Cleveland/Akron area so my knowledge on the Cinci guys isn't as strong, so that may lead to some bias.

With the recent wave of offers, I thought it would be a good idea to update this thread. We will have 18 seniors next year, So I would think that 22 would be a reasonable number to come in around.

Next year in-state is really shaping up nicely, and there seems to be talent at just about every position, and some early favorites from guys OOS.

QB - Could be a year where we go after two. Miller is clearly the guy, but Randall is a 5 star stud, that we look to be pursuing, and Stoud, Jones, and Coyne are names in-state that will probably get thrown around all year.

Braxton Miller - Just a matter of time. He is a dual threat QB, has a big time arm, great wheels. I would really like to see him committ early and be the ring leader for a great class.

Jerarrd Randall - He is a big time athlete playing QB. Could come is a 2nd QB, fight for the job and win it, or end up at a number of different positions. We will see where this recruitment goes. His coach is a friend of JT.

Cardale Jones, Cole Stoudt, Patrick Coyne - Are names that everyone likes, will get big time offers, and if the guys above don't come here, one coudl see an offer.

RB's - I see us taking 0 or 1. We are loaded at RB right now, and 2012 looks to be absolutely stacked with Dunn, Ball, Shell, Cross, etc. Not any instate guys really popping out either.

James Wilder Jr. - He is a freak of nature. Big bruising back with speed. Has an offer, we will see where we go with this recruitment.

Robert Walton - From Glenville will probably be talked about as best rb in the state.

Allan Wosanga - One to watch, not playing great competition, but if we offer, I would say we land him.

Rico Butler - Another in-state guy that could see a look or two.

WR's - There are a lot of options at WR, in-state and OOS. It looks like we will try and grab 3 in this class, a ton of talent at this position to choose from.

Phil Dorsett - WR out of STA florida, very good showing in SA at the combine. Very good shot here, for a very good WR prospect.

Evan Spencer - Received an early offer from the staff and I think many would consider us the favorites, considering his dad played here.

Shane Wynn - Kid is explosive with the ball in his hands. He is a little on the smallish side, but hopefully he grows. I think at some point he receives and offer.

Davaris Daniels - Teammate of Evan Spencer. It would seem the coaches believe Spencer is more talented as he has an offer and Daniels does not.

DeAnthony Arnett - #2 player in Michigan, Suppose to be visiting C-bus soon.

AJ Jordan - I still really like Jordan, and would not mind seeing an offer go out to him, but with 3 WR offers out already, not sure where he stands.

Devin Smith - Between he and Jordan, I put them as the next 2 in state if an instate offer were to go out.

TE's - I still see 2, just not sure who the second offer will go out to. Hope the fact that we don't use the TE much, doesn't hurt us with Koyack.

Ben Koyack - Obviously the staff's top target. Could be the top TE in the country next year and we are very high on the list. Will be a tOSU/PSU battle.

Ray Hamilton - Has offers from WVU and Pitt already. He is one to keep an eye on and will be in the running if the staff looks to take 2 TE's.

Darien Bryant - Is another in-state TE to keep an eye, would be more in the role of a flex, like Stoney. Big WR/TE.

Nick O'Leary - Seems Odd that we haven't attacked this one. Being who is grandpa is, and that he seems to be the top TE in Florida, and true one at that, block and catch.

Jamare Mills - Could be an OL, the staff seems to be in constant contact.

OL - Happy to see some offers go out, I think we try for 3/4 again.

Michael Bennett - C prospect from Centerville. Just offered and have to think we are the only choice here being from Centerville. Could get a look on the D-line as well.

Audrey Walker - Just received his offer. He has said some strange things considering being from Glenville, as in not listing us as favorite. But you still have to figure being from Glenville we will be there the whole time.

Angelo Mangiro - Early offer from us. Not sure on our chances here, but could end up on either side of the line. Looks to be a big time talent.

Kiaro Holtz - Lineman out of Indiana, and could see an offer in the near future. Same school as DT prospect Kris Harley, and rumored as a buckeye fan.

Jordan Walsh - Illinois Scouts really like him, should be visiting in the near future, could see an offer.

Tommy Brown - Will probably need to come to camp to see an offer, but he has good size and looks very talented on film. Could end up on the D-line as well.

Landon Turner - Big time OT prospect out of VA. Not sure how much we are in the game here.

Chase Hounsell - Another name popping up from Ohio, at this point he will have to grow into the position as he is listed in the 240 range.

Chris Boles - His name was thrown out early as a top 5 in Ohio. Since then it has been quiet, but I really liked the film. A big guy that can play inside that moves well. But doesn't seem to be the buzz that was out there early. Grades??? Not sure on this one, as I really like what I see on film.

Brian Robek - A guy we have a thread on from Illinois

Christain Westerman - Big time prospect from AZ. We have inquired about him.

DE's - We shouldn't have to go outside the state here. We already have Hayes in the fold and Steve Miller is a 5 star candidate. Don't see the need for more than 2, especially with the two being Hayes and Miller.

Kenny Hayes - Got an offer and accepted on the spot. Will be a top 5 player in the state. Really liked what he brough on film, long and athletic DE's, quick off the ball, and getting to the QB. Looks to be a SDE, as he is already at 235.

Steve Miller - 5 Star candidate, great looking DE, has everyone raving about him. In the fold already. Big time Get.

Aaron Lynch - Is under the radar, but a talented kid that really likes ohio state.

Brian Mihalik - He is another guy to watch in state, but not sure if they will go after a 3rd guy, or maybe he could end up at DT.

Brad Carrico - Best position would probably be OL, or DT. Already with an offer from ND. One to keep an eye on for sure.

DT's - Looks like the state has some top talent, Kris Harley is dying for an offer, and McReynolds is a big time OOS kid with some early interest.

Kevin McReynolds - Top talent in the country out of DC. Not sure on our chances, but seems like one to keep an eye on.

Chris Rock - I Still think he can get big enough to play DT, not sure if he wants to do that, but I don't see him getting offered as a DE here.

Donavon Clark - Ohio DT that I would say could be in line for an offer, or could be looked at during camp.

Kris Harley DT (IN) - Sounds like he might have to show himself at camp, but he seems poised and wanting to do that. Might be a little undersized, but shoudl be able to grow to DT size, and really likes the bucks.

Kevin Williams - Another OH DT with great size, has an early offer from Nebraska, plays at a smallish school against not so great competition, but looks to have the raw ability to make a good DT. Probably going to have to come and compete at camp to get the offer.

LB's - Ton of talent here. We could have the top 4 kids to not receive Ohio State offeres in state at this position in Daniels, Grace, Sturdivant and Petteway. Love all 4 on film, and all will have a ton of BCS offers to show.

Trey DePreist - Bama, Michigan, tOSU...Dunno, lots of different info out there, big time instate LB, from Springfield, friends with Braxton Miller...Will be interesting to see it play out.

James Vaugters - Big time recruit out of Georgia with a ton of big time offers already. He and his family is originally from Ohio. Gotta like where we sit with him.

Lawrence Thomas - #1 player in Michigan, MSU seems like the early favorite, but tOSU has more appeal than them. Will see if this one goes anywhere.

Michael Caputo - New OOS offer out of PA, talented player in the mold of Tyler Moeller.

Other in state guys Andre Sturdivant, Steven Daniels, Jarret Grace, Shaq Petteway. I wouldn't mind an offer to any of these guys. Love Petteway on film, in the Brian Rolle mold, Grace, will probably out grow the LB position, but the staff talked MLB with him, Daniels has a slew of offers already, and Sturdivant hits like a truck, and has very good size.

DB's - I will go with 4. 2 CB's 2 S's. Ton of talent here, and seem to have the guys identified early, and one would say we are heavy favorites for 3 of the 4 we have offered (Grant, Cash, Tanner)

Doran Grant - Top DB in state. Really like where we stand, but wants to take visits.

Eilar Hardy - I think he could be the next offer in-state. Really like him, like his ability to play anywhere in the secondary.

Wayne Lyons - Best S prospect in the country. Going to be very tough to pull out Florida, but he is willing to look, ther eis no reason to not push, and see where we get.

Jeremy Cash - Over soon?

Ronald Tanner - Just offered, seems to be when not if.

Ken Mullen - DB from Indiana, coaches want to see him at camp, there was rumor of an early offer, but that seems to be false. We would be near the top with an offer.

I will put a class out there, for a best guess, the class looks somewhat clear, as lot of the guys with offers, seem to be a matter of when not if. Could become even more clearer next week, if we send out offers on signing day.

QB - Braxton Miller
WR - Shane Wynn
WR - Evan Spencer
WR - Phil Dorsett
TE - Ben Koyack
TE - Ray Hamilton
OL - Aundrey Walker
OL - Michael Bennett
OL - Tommy Brown
OL - Jordan Palmer
DE - Kenny Hayes
DE - Steve Miller
DT - Donavon Clark
DT - Kris Harley
LB - James Vaugters
LB - Jarret Grace
LB - Trey DePriest
DB- Jeremy Cash
DB - Ronald Tanner
DB - Doran Grant
DB - Eilar Hardy

We could see a huge battle on the oline and dline at camp to land offers, and maybe WR/DB for that matter to.

Could be a class that is mostly over by the time the season rolls around...

'11 is looking just nasty for us. This could be up there for the number one class in the country and definitely bounce back from a seemingly only average class (compared to what we've been pulling lately). We sit in great position with a lot of great players. Ohio is stacked and we are sitting great so I agree that much of this class could be over quick.

I'm real excited to see it play out.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch much film of the '11 class but Landon Turners film and DaVarius Daniels were awesome. Turner just mauls the guys across from him and Daniels makes plays from all different positions. I'm surprised neither have an offer yet especially Daniels.

Lots of changes since the last update.

QB's - Braxton is still the the only I belive we land in this class. If anyone else gets in it will Cardale Jones late in the process, because we have a extra ship.

RB's - Don't see us taking one...The news on Howard is a bit strange with the 2012 class looking to be stacked at that position.

WR's - I believe right now Wynn and Spencer are the two. We are going after some others, but right now those two stand out.

TE's - With the recent offer to Heuerman, and the thought that we want two, we take the first two of Koyack, Vannett, and Heuerman that committ and call it a day. The only question being will two of them commit to the same school...I will say yes for now.

OL - Carter, Underwood, Bobek, and Brown already in the fold. Gotta believe that Walker will join eventually being from Glenville. I say we take one more on top of those 5 if it is the right one. Mangiro is a name still being thrown around.

DE's - Hayes and Miller are in the fold already, I say Sturdivant takes the 3rd spot here...they went after some big names, but it doesn't seem like any of them are looking too good for us right now.

DT's - Farris is in, when not if on Bennett. Some interesting news over the weekend on McReynolds. We will see where we are with him, Don't see us landing him tho, and then there is Hale who just landed a Florida offer. Not sure where that puts us, but gives us a big challenger for sure.

LB's - I just can't see us only taking one. Tressell always finds a way to sneak one more LB than everyone expected into the class. Depriest is obvioulsy on top of the wish list as well as Vaughters. And there is Crowelll that is saying some of the right things now. But right now I will keep at 1 for numbers sake.

DB's - Cash and Gambrell in the fold. I believe it is a matter of when not if on Grant and Tanner. Then we have 3 guys with offers Lyons, Gorman, and Kirby. All of which we look to have decent chances with...And then Eilar Hardy is still out there, who I am still holding out hope for. So do we take 5 or 6? Depends on who wants in. I will go with 5 at this point.

QB - Braxton Miller
WR - Shane Wynn
WR - Evan Spencer
TE - Ben Koyack / Nick Vannett
TE - Jeff Heuerman
OL - Aundrey Walker
OL - Antonio Underwood
OL - Tommy Brown
OL - Chris Carter
OL - Brian Bobek
DE - Kenny Hayes
DE - Steve Miller
DE - Andre Sturdivant
DT - Michael Bennett
DT - Chase Farris
LB - Trey DePriest / James Vaughters / Conner Crowell
DB - DerJuan Gambrell
DB- Jeremy Cash
DB - Ronald Tanner
DB - Doran Grant
DB - Jabari Gorman / Wayne Lyons / Dondi Kirby / Eilar Hardy

That puts us at 21. Gotta figure we would take a 6th lineman, 6th db, 6th DL, or a 2nd LB if they are the right ones.
