Former Juggalo head coaches not doing so well this season:

Mark Dantonio is 2-7 at Michigan State
Brian Kelly is 3-6 at Notre Dame
Butch Jones is 6-3 but facing a team mutiny at Tennessee

Only Tim Murphy is having success with his dynasty at Harvard (7-1, 5-0 this year, going for 4th straight Ivy League title).

What really bothers me as an alumn (strictly a football opinion not state politics or shennanigans that bother a lot of posters like ORD) is Butchie T. Clown and Tubberville have quickly destroyed everything that Dantonio put in place to give UC a fighting chance in the Big East. Kelly didn't do anything to harm the structure that Dantonio put into place and actually poached Coombs from Colerain to head up recruiting in SWO.

Tubberville doesn't even recruit. He leaves the scouting to subordinates and almost never goes out to close any deals. The UC staff has completely ignored Cincinnati. There are 2 and 3 star kids that could have UC winning the AAC yearly. You can't find UC at a Cincy HS game. Ever. There are Colerain kids who should absolutely on UC's radar that aren't recruited at all. DeShaunte Jones is having quite the season as a FR WR at Iowa State. UC offered late as an after thought. Trying to save face I suppose. Larkin from LaSalle flipped when the trends of the staff became evident after his initial verbal.
Butchie was just a lying piece of shit whose recruiting pitch (no joke) was to tell kids when he gets a better job they would be welcomed to follow him wherever he landed.

Dantonio made great contacts and built relationships that he still relies on in Lansing today. Kelly built upon those and brought in a local legend to continue that.
It pisses me off that UC hired Butchie. It angers me more that they extended a jackass with money they can't possibly buy out for a guy mailing it in for a last paycheck before retirement.

Sorry for my rant. Just not a fan of Tubberville or the AD at present time.

That's the catch 22 though. No offense, it's a stepping stone job and because of that you are always going to have people who aren't really interested in long term program building.

Dantonio built recruiting relationships to help him at UC but in the long run for the next job because anyone can see how that would be useful.

Kelly not being completely stupid just added to what he was lucky enough to find. Butch is the typical carpetbagger type who just sucked it dry and reinvested nothing. Tuberville is just a different flavor of Butch in that he's not interested in anything but some retirement nest padding.

No offense taken at all. It is absolutely a stepping stone job. Your point about Dantonio is also true. But what he built still allowed for the next guy to use the brand to get into schools and kids homes. I dunno. It is what it is, I suppose.
At least the Reds and Bengals aren't shitty. Oops.

Not that I shed any tears (only dance in them), but given the HS talent in Cincy, any UC coach who doesn't make that the foundation of his recruiting strategy is just being criminally incompetent.

OK, having been on the juggalo boards enjoying my tears for the last two weeks, I have a serious question. Is your fanbase that fucking delusional? Other than the ranting and raving about Tuberville, there are two main themes that seem to have emerged, and both are crazy as fuck.

First, there is the ingrained and unquestioned belief that UC is poised to be some major player in football. On what basis? You caught lightening in a bottle by making a couple of good hires in a row while competing in a conference that was BCS in name only. And that is literally the extent of UC's football history. 41 weeks in the AP poll over 88 years and only 1 top-10 finish, and 90% of that happened during the aforementioned window. I'll admit that I find myself amused at a school that's been to one Final Four in the last 53 years considering itself a basketball blueblood, but the notion that you have any realistic vision of being a football power makes that seem damned reasonable.

Second, they all seem to be saying that now is the time for UC to double down on spending. You're fucking broke. Your athletic subsidy has consistently been one of the highest in the country ($27M last year). You have a nearly unsustainable debt load going back to Zimpher, and whatever donor base you have is probably pretty tapped out after Varsity Village, the stadium renovation and now the arena renovation. Where is the fucking money going to come from to chase these dreams of big time sports? More from the students? More from the state? More debt? The B12 money ain't happening, and that cabfare that the Big East left on the counter for you on your way out is about to run out. The university's overall debt load is larger than its annual budget. In comparison, at Ohio State and OU the percentage is slightly under 50%. Your debt to budget ratio is similar to Akron's which is a financial basket case.

Seriously, the state saved that school from insolvency once, and I sincerely hope that it isn't going to be called on to do it again. I also hope that you hire a serious President capable of taking a realistic look at the university's position and setting some realistic goals for it rather than just pumping sunshine up everybody's ass, setting laughably unrealistic goals for three years and then lighting out of town before the whole con came crashing down.
