Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

La Liga in Spain comes to mind. Barcelona and Real Madrid win the league almost every single year. It's gotten to the point where the only exciting matches involving Barcelona and Madrid are when they play each other, and Champions League.

But I completely agree. The NBA has gotten pretty watered down with only two contending teams for the Finals the last 3 years, likely next year as well.

It's became super watered down in the past 3 or so years, but I started losing interest well before that. The Cavs are pretty much the only team I follow year round. The regular season is the most meh in all of pro sports, even more meh then baseball and it's 162 games, I can at least follow baseball and watch a baseball game even if the Indians arent playing and somewhat enjoy it. NBA no way.

The absolute lack of parity is only going to continue unless the league does something. Even if the Warriors and Cavs break up only the next super team is going to come along after that.

So do the Warriors set the unbeatable postseason mark of 16-0 tonight? I'm guessing they want it badly, after squandering their 73 win season in the Finals last year.

GS isn't a super team. They are god damn all star team. 4 top 20 players in the league. 3 of which are top 10.
Thompson and Draymond are locked in at like 17M a year. But if Curry and Durant take a full 35M they are still looking at 104M for those four guys.
With a cap of 107M right? 125M maximum. Unless Curry and Durant take big pay cuts their bench is in trouble.
Iggy 33 and Livingston 31 will get 10-15M each. I cant imagine GS being able to keep them both.

Unless another super team (with 4 top 20 players) is somehow created, or GS breaks up...I have no interest in watching the NBA next year or the year after.
Maybe Thompson will get tired of being the 3rd option. Who knows.

Realistically...Paul George would be a great addition. Heres a wish list on a major overhaul.

Love to Indy for Paul George (love has a nice long contract)
JR+Shump to Toronto for Valanciunas
Thompson+Frye to Knicks for Carmelo

1.Kyrie
2.Carmelo
3.Paul George
4.LeBon
5.Valanciunas

As far as im concerned everyone is on the trade block except Kyrie and LeBron.

The only way they get Melo is if he gets cut and I have to laugh at putting him at the 2. The only move I like there would be George, but I don't know if they could keep him or get a 3 team deal to give the Pacers what they want for him.

If the Warriors stars keep taking less than max deals and their role players don't bolt for more money I don't know if there's anything the Cavs can do to catch them. Any changes the league makes to make things harder on the Warriors would hurt the Cavs even more. About the only thing I can think of is to have a bidding process for FA's. Ask every team in the league what they're willing to pay for a guy like David West or DWill and force the player to pick one of the top 5 bids. That would stop capped out teams from loading their bench with ring chasers and make more use of the D League to fill their bench. Some sort of hard cap as well, which hurts the Cavs now, but will cripple the Warriors in a couple years. If you can force teams to manage the roster like OKC did rather than the way the Cavs and Warriors are doing it will be better for the league.

The NBA is a business. I really don't think the Warriors will tank it; however, I don't think the ownership will mind at all it actually goes 5 or 6 games.

The NBA and its partners lose money if Golden State sweeps Cleveland

How much would a sweep cost the Warriors? Try $22M
