Columbus' Jason Chimera, right, and Detroit's Chris Chelios race after the puck in the third period.

Manny Malhotra's game yesterday afternoon was defined by three shots -- two in the net and a third in the kisser.
The Blue Jackets center scored twice in a 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings, but his most impressive feat might have been getting to his feet after a frightening collision with teammate Ole-Kristian Tollefsen.
Midway through the second period a back-checking Malhotra was crushed by the Jackets defenseman who had meant to hit Red Wings forward Mattias Ritola. As the Red Wings were celebrating a goal, Malhotra peeled himself from the Nationwide Arena ice surface and skated slowly to the bench.

Today's CBJ game was my first, and I absolutely loved it!!

I had a blast with BuckeyeMike, his brother-in-law, and BuckeyeWill at the game!!!

It was also great meeting BuckeyeMike's wife and sister-in-law. BuccaDiBeppo's was great!! The gratto specialty table was the bomb!!

Can't wait til we go to the next game!!!

My only wish before the game was to see/hear the cannon go off just once! I got really lucky. 4 TIMES!! (Plus Victory)

CCI wants me to make sure and post that he's a STUD!! I didn't want to leave him out!

Welcome back LadyB... shoulda known it would take a testimonial of CCI's studhood (:shake:) to bring you back... nowhere to go but up, from there!

Animosity lingering for Blue Jackets
Langkow's slash on Boll ups ante for physical game
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 5:41 AM
By Aaron Portzline

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The sight of rookie right winger Jared Boll in a heap on the ice is still fresh in the Blue Jackets' minds, even two weeks later.
A slash by the Flames' Daymond Langkow during a 1-0 Blue Jackets loss on March 4 in Calgary was more well-placed than vicious, but it struck a nerve behind Boll's right knee that deadened the feeling in his leg and sent him sprawling to the ice.
It struck a nerve with the rest of the Blue Jackets, too.

Jackets notebook: Leclaire to miss at least two games

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Moments after getting his bell rung during warm-ups on Sunday, Blue Jackets goaltender Pascal Leclaire experienced a world in fast forward.
A few minutes later, he felt like he was riding a tilt-a-whirl.
"This is something totally new for me," Leclaire said. "I've never had a concussion."

The Jackets' Jared Boll and the Flames' Craig Conroy go at it in the third period.

Under a heavy air of revenge and a sense that mayhem was percolating closely below the surface, the Blue Jackets played one of their smartest and most complete games in months last night against the Calgary Flames.

The Blue Jackets, who rediscovered responsible play in their zone, beat the rough-and-tumble Flames 3-0 in front of 14,270 in Nationwide Arena.

Bob Hunter commentary: Coach's resolve will lead to playoff run ... someday

Wednesday, March 19, 2008 3:21 AM
By Bob Hunter

hunter19.IMG_03-19-08_C1_JV9MIHQ.jpg

In the bad old days, a question about the Blue Jackets' season-record 75 points would have launched a verbal fusillade about the incredible progress the team has made. The team would have taken enough steps to reach the top of the Washington Monument.
When coach Ken Hitchcock was asked about it this week, he uttered one sarcastic word that showed how much things have changed: whoopee.

Rick Nash tries to control the puck against Daymond Langkow after breaking his stick.

Third-line grinders don't usually lead the league in candid commentary.
Their earnest remarks about "getting pucks deep" and "finishing checks" often remain buried in a reporter's notebook.
But Blue Jackets forward Dan Fritsche put the bite in sound byte on Monday with his tough talk concerning the Calgary Flames and their center Daymond Langkow.

very nice win for the CBJ, shutout for Norrena. Manny M 2nd game in a row(player of the Game). We are not out of the playoff hunt yet fellas:biggrin:

Not out of the hunt that's for sure but a lot has to happen for us to get in. It's very possible with three teams sitting at 84 and us at 77 with 9 games to go.

Good win but damn that was a cheap shot by Reghere.

And as for the classless swinging of a stick like a golf club as if to say Columbus will be playing golf - maybe, however, they kicked the crap out of Calgary last night.

That was one of the most physical games I think I've seen in at least 2 years.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

With eight games remaining, the Blue Jackets are running out of time in their bid for a miracle run to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
They're running low on players, too.
Center Dan Fritsche, who suffered a broken left hand Wednesday when he was struck by the puck in a 3-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, underwent surgery yesterday and will miss the rest of the season.

Michael Arace commentary: Blue Jackets' early life filled with difficulties

Monday, March 24, 2008 3:08 AM
By michael arace

arace24.IMG_03-24-08_C1_IM9NSUB.jpg

The Blue Jackets came of a complicated birth. Recall that Lamar Hunt had the lead of the ownership group until Franklin County voters defeated a referendum for a taxpayer-funded arena. Nationwide Insurance, along with The Dispatch Printing Company, then pitched a privately funded arena -- and Hunt balked. He said the lease proposed by Nationwide would be financially crippling.

Blue Jackets notebook | Special teams not doing job

The Columbus Dispatch

The Blue Jackets' penalty kill has been bad, the power play even worse, and Saturday night against Detroit the recent struggles of both units were magnified for nearly 18,000 fans.
The Red Wings scored two power-play goals and a short-handed goal on the way to a 4-1 win.

That was pretty screwed up (golf gestures).

It was a very physical game, and I am quite :pissed:that the game we went to looked like a church function compared to this one. However, I still loved every minute of it!!! :paranoid:
