Complete explanation of reputation, vBookie, and Point system?

Hey all.. I've been posting here for a little while now and browsing for quite a bit longer. But I've never completely understood the point/reputation/vBookie systems, despite searching the FAQ section pretty heavily. I understand the basic points of reputation and vBookie and have no idea what points are. But there are still random questions- i.e. -
1) What are the gold medallions above the rep?

2) Why is it that sometimes I wind up with random amounts of money? I think you get 1 vDollar for every post you make... but sometimes I'll wind up with 10 dollars somehow, and I know I hadn't made 10 posts. Or I'll end up with $100- which I think just comes periodically to those who are broke, but it doesn't explain why sometimes I get 100, spend it, get another 100, spend it, get another 100, spend it, and then a week later I'll get a hundred again. Why does that happen?

3) Why are some people ridiculously vRich? I would assume it has something to do with reputation- i.e., the more rep you get, the more vBucks you get every week, maybe?

Anyway this is just me being my curious self and I sincerely apologize if this has already been posted somewhere but I've looked all over and I can't find it.

edit- Oh, and I forgot.. I also have absolutely no idea what the Bank is. Heh.

No promises on "complete," but here goes...

Points and bank totals are your vCash, aka vbBux. These appear on your posts and in your UserCP (control panel) as:

vbBux Points
Points: 1.84
Bank: 0.00
Total Points: 1.84
Donate
Points are your "pocket money" for vbets, while banked amounts earn interest but cannot be used until they are transferred out of the bank (currently done by admins on request in the vBanking Services thread).

vCash points are earned by posting, winning bets, or by donating to BP. It's probably safe to say that most of our highrollers started with donations to BP (every $1 gets you v1,000) combined with winnings in the vBookie section.

BTW, the "Donate" in the quote above is not a real money donation - it was to give vcash points to other users, and is currently out of commission until a security patch is available for the program we were using. To make a real money donation, go to "Donate" on the top toolbar. When Clarity and Longwoodbuck receive your donation, they'll let 3yardsandacloud know, and he will increase your vcash accordingly.

You do get vcash for posts or over time. I thought it was attached to rep, but it doesn't seem to be anymore. It also "costs" a tiny bit of vcash to play games in the Arcade. None of these are significant enough to worry over.

Periodically, users with less than v100 are given a "charity" v100 to let them get back into the system. If you have low vcash, the best thing to do is keep betting your v100 and getting more of them until you get out of vpoverty.

vCash points are not the same as rep points, which wasn't your question, but someone else asked recently and I can see where it would get confusing. You can see your rep points in your UserCP on the section with reps you have received. You can also see your reputation power on reps you have given - this is the number of reputation points someone else gets when you rep them (dings only take away a small portion of what positive reps add). Reputation power grows as reputation points grow.

The green chicklets are tied to reputation points. It takes more reputation points to get a gold chicklet than a light green chicklet than a dark green chicklet, so you will wait longer for a gold chicklet than a green. When the line of chicklets maxes out, you get a gold Buckeye leaf and the chicklet meter starts over again. This was implemented to prevent the entire screen of every thread to be filled with 21's reputation chicklets.

Oh yes... there are usually vcash prizes for most of the Pick'em and "Where am I?" games. Some posters have earned vcash by bartering... jwinslow made me a signature pic for v100 back in the day... quite the deal.

Also, if you happen to have some sort of inside information that we're going to punt for the first play of the NC, that's a quick route to riches!

For the record, I struck vOil and turned that into a vRealestate empire, sadly, adjustable rate vMortgages have been slowly bleeding away my vFortune.

Yeah, he bought me a vIsland and gave me a vTennisBracelet once but I think its because he was vCheating. Plus, he repossesed the vIsland because he said I was running avBrothel which was true but it was really because my vWhores wouldn't give him vFreebies.

1) See here...go to bottom post.

2) Deety pretty much covered it.

3) Deety mentioned donations, but even that doesn't explain folks with over 10,000,000 vBucks. Those who are that rich have been very good at doubling up their bets. Hell, I had over 5,000,000 until the Illinois game :smash:

A golden buckeye is the next denomination in the rep system. Dark green dots add up to equal a green dot, and those add up to equal gold dots, and a full bar adds up to equal one golden buckeye leaf.

I don't know what the exact numbers are (if they've shifted since Mili's writeup), but think of the golden leaf as the one in 1,000,000. Once all of your little chiclets add up to over that 1,000,000 mark, it will start over counting up to your second golden leaf, or 2,000,000. So you'd have one golden leaf and just a few dark green chiclets... until they rollover to 2 golden leaves, etc.

Note the 1 mil and 2 mil are simply made up as examples.
