  • Students at a new Utah high school are facing disappointment after their choice for a new school mascot was rejected for one of the strangest reasons possible: Board members deemed it might be seen as offensive to middle-aged women.

I'm guessing there are some middle aged women on that board who no one would ever call a "cougar", and that's why they're offended by it.

I wonder if they have heard of BYU?

Lest anyone be totally disappointed by the thread title:

I thought this was gonna be about cougaring

These days, what you call cougars are my age or a little younger.

I remember those women very well from my younger days, though. They were the women in the bar who would buy you a drink, ask you to dance, invite you to their place, and not want you to call them the next day.

Man, I miss those days. Those women are about 60 now. :(

If the school wasn't going to allow "Cougars" as a mascot, it should never have been available for a vote. BYU is right near by and their mascot is a cougar. Political correctness gone wild, again. Punishing an entire student body to make, what, a handful of people not be offended? It isn't "The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many" FFS.

Eventually, every team mascot will be deemed "offensive" by someone, somewhere, for some stupid reason. I just hope it doesn't get to that point before I die. After that, fuck it. :wink2:
