DE Darius Slade (transfer to Arizona State, transfer to South Florida)

Have you been actually following the 2014 class? Jalyn holmes alone is worth at least a grade B. He dominated the Army AA game and tore it up this season. Check out the stat line he had in one of his last games, tremendous! And Dylan Thompson is ridiculously underrated and has versatility to play inside or outside. Slade is a nice under the radar prospect but he was still a plan c to be honest. And would've redshirted this upcoming season to get up to speed witb the college game. Slade is a nice project but a stretch to say 1st round talent

And as far as not havimg dominant D lineman already, bosa, Bennett and spence would disagree... I do think our d line was one of the top in the nation with sacks
Yes I have been following very closely and yes Thompson is good,, holmes had a couple of plays in the AA game. He was far from being dominant, he is good, not great. I saw him play a whole game televised nationally. He was a non factor except for being thrown out of the game. When I say dominant, I mean one of those monsters that beats the best DL and just collapses the line, consistently. Boas is great, plays with heart, makes plays, and he will make more, but again he is a DE. He bull rushes most of the time, and you can not do that with elite linemen. He is also too small to dominate simply with force. Bennett is good but disappears, and also on the small side. Honestly, the only one with the potential to be a high draft pick is Diesel, and he has had issues so far. When you consider who some of the teams are bringing in and how many, a class of 2, good players is a C, meaning average at best, assuming they both pan out. Sometimes a C is all you need, but I don't think that's our case.

I think you're spending a little too much time and energy worrying about this. 5-stars turn into busts, 3-stars turn into first round draft picks, highlight films and all-star games don't determine college careers and you don't have to field a team with players from one recruiting class.

I haven't seen a single person worrying about this outside of you; maybe take that as a hint?

You're making it seem like Slade is the next Michael strahan, you probably never even heard of the kid before the solid few days Osu was after him. He's not a need and not on the same level as guys we have already, he was a project it is what it is. You mention dominance, yet Slade isn't nearly as dominant as anyone you've mentioned on our current roster. Chill out well be more than fine. Slade was a poor mans jamal Marcus anyway

Thank you for the deep life changing advice!

Simply finishing my argument and explaining my opinion. Time will tell.

You guys are silly. It seems very reasonable to disparage the future of very young but productive Buckeye linemen by showing how poorly their college exploits compare to a high school sleeper recruit playing against weak competition.

Diesel & Bosa didn't dominate their vastly superior hs competition nor display immense potential in college as well. Marcus didn't have Meyer squealing with delight about his dominant tape. Spence was pretty average too.

Time will tell whether we should begin evaluating slade and whether he stacks up. If he were going to Minnesota instead of Sparty, I sincerely doubt we'd be having this conversation..

Maybe not, but maybe we all should've paid more attention to Ra'Shede Hageman a few years ago as he matriculated as a Golden Gopher ...

Good luck to this young man. Hope Sparty is getting a good one, but I'm not stressing over the fact he's headed north to East Lansing. I would probably be stressing if I were a 'Husker fan, though.

Yes, time will tell if Slade is going to be a first round draft pick while Ohio State's DL falls into mediocrity.
For some reason I don't think we'll be revisiting this topic.[/quote
I said no such thing. We can still have an outstanding DL. You can have a first round NFL player playing on a terrible DL. One person does not make a line or a team. You can have a bunch of 2 and 3 stars on the best DL in the country. Being picked early in the first round for the NFL is a different thing. We will see how many of the current DL will see such fortunes. I have nothing to add about this kid.

"The Darius Slade recruiting saga took another turn on National Signing Day. The highly touted Montclair defensive end will not sign a National Letter of Intent with Michigan State on Wednesday, and is planning a visit to Ohio State the weekend of Feb. 15, Montclair coach John Fiore told The Star-Ledger.

Slade, who previously was committed to Nebraska before flipping to Michigan State, is enticed by the idea of playing for assistant coach Larry Johnson at Ohio State. Slade has known Johnson since he was in middle school, and his cousins played for him while he coached at Penn State."
