From what I hear, I would too. Don't you guys have the biggest athletic budget in the country?

Yes.

Edit: WSJ article:

Inside College Sports' Biggest Money Machine - The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com

At $109,382,222 for the current year, Ohio State's athletic budget is the largest in the nation and the biggest in the history of college sports. It allows the school to field 36 varsity teams in everything from baseball and soccer to riflery and synchronized swimming...

If he's waiting for an ND offer and is going to trip there it's hard for me to consider OSU the favorite. If he's so sold on Tressel and OSU, why not get it over with? I can't believe someone who's allegedly so impressed with Tressel could even think about playing for a scumbag like Weis.
JT encourages recruits to visit other schools so that they are convinced that Ohio State is the best fit for them ... and that they are the best fit for Ohio State. No point in being stuck with a kid who isn't completely "sold" on the school, the program, the location, the weather, etc.

I would feel a lot better if it did not take place.
Again, JT would disagree with you.

Another DE in this class is a big need, IMHO.
But only if the DE is the right fit....

Of course ND has great tradition, but much like um's when you compare their accomplishments during the modern era of college football to OSU's it's not close. Seriously, while the campus is nice, no better than Miami's, South Bend would be a tough place to live for a college kid, IMHO. I doubt it's even as big as Champaign.
That's the point exactly, although you don't seem to "get it" even though you said it. ND is nothing like OSU in terms of location, campus size, facilities, coaching staff, and recent success on the field. ND can offer things that OSU can't, and vice versa. If Wells likes what OSU has to offer, then he probably won't be buying what ND has to sell. On the other hand, if he feels "at home" in South Bend, then OSU probably isn't the right fit.

I just thought I needed to defend Keith a little bit, well most recruits really:

Some kids don't have the time, some don't have the means, and/or don't even think that "getting out" of their little home town will ever be possible.

Some of these kids join the armed forces in order to see other parts of the world. Some join AmeriCorp, or the PeaceCorp to "get out."

Keith and many other Division I football recruits have never had the chance to see other parts of the country, let alone get 5-star treatment by some of the biggest names in the sport. He is lucky enough to have the opportunity to see these other places, to leave the town he grew up in, and actually find out how amazing other parts of the country can be.

I think Keith deserves a little fun, a chance to travel and eat good food, take his mom places she has never been, and stay at nice hotels before he starts college, before he starts working what equates to 60 hour work weeks, before he starts the grind of college football.

Never mind, maybe he shouldn't take advantage of what is being given to him just so a few fans could feel better about the situation.
Point made, and made well, but beyond the "fun factor", these kids really do need to find the best fit for them. A good "fit" ultimately benfits the player and the school that he signs with ... as well as the schools that he passes on.

and this is one of the main reasons we don't have so many transfers of 1st and 2nd year players.

As far as Wells is concerned I would love to see him pick the Bucks as I think he would be a great fit on the defensive line, in school, and the community. On the other hand everything I have read and heard of this kid leads me to believe he has his priorities in order and will make the right decision for himself and his family at either tOSU, ND, or Tennessee.

He's said that he will announce by next Friday at the latest...which is a great sign for Ohio State as he has pinned down a date (and possibly a decision) right after Tressel's visit and before he gets to go to Tennessee. He will be a great fit here at Ohio State if he makes that choice.

BTW: The information comes from BN's free forums.

He's still visiting ND this weekend or next with his mother. The ND staff has told him he'll most likely recieve an offer if he shows he's serious about ND and officially visits. He's been listing ND as one of his favorites since back in May when ND was the only team not to offer him. It seems maybe he's always been attracted to them.

He will not be visiting ND next weekend, because he is going to commit either the Thurs. or Friday after Fulmer visits him on Wednesday.

This is a recruiting forum, near NLOID, logic and intelligence have no place here

Oh that's right this is Buckeye Planet, carry on.

Wells seems like a very well spoken and thoughtful kid (which speaks well of him and his mother) They will make a smart, well informed decision, and while I hope it's tOSU, I wish him well either way, and am glad he is exploring his options instead of jumping too quickly (like he may have originally in choosing FSU)

With the glowing remarks he has made regarding JT, I feel pretty darn good about our chances.
