DE Nick Bosa (Pro Bowl, All Pro, 2019 ROY, 2022 DPOY, San Francisco 49ers)

Nick was referenced as a 255 lber last fall. He can absolutely grow into a 3-tech.

p.s. Please do not use wide angle, cell phone photos of candid groupings (with the inevitable varying distances from the camera) to judge height or weight, especially the latter. All three of them look trim, especially his distance running father pictured there who bears no resemblance to the beast I've stood next to in Columbus
I stand with Mili on this. He may not see the field his first year but discounting him as some are is silly.
Then you aren't reading what Mili is writing. There is no may. NO ONE is beating him out according to Mili and "may play DT" is also absurd.

We're not arguing that he won't play early but rather it's not a given.

The two Bosa's look the same height. Maybe Joey really isn't 6ft 6?
The younger Bosa is obviously slimmer. Probably 250-ish.
Nick looks like a "situational" player in year one. But where?
Probably DE.

None of whom have done jack squat. Only Lewis and Holmes have any appreciable PT at all. Keep in mind that not only did Joey start most of the games his freshman year, he was a Freshman All-American and a force from mid-season onward. The amount of time Bosa spends on the field speaks volumes about not only about his rare talent but what we have below him on the depth chart. Not saying our DE depth or talent aside from Joey is bad, but we don't have any other world-class DEs on the roster right now other than Big Bear.
I'd be pretty shocked if Bosa beat out a 4th year Lewis.

Maybe year 3 Holmes and year 3 Hubbard will fail to put it together but I would not feel confident in predicting that, especially since Slade, Cornell, Hall and Cooper are thrown in there as fringe options.

I think Bosa plays a ton but in a reserve role and takes over for Lewis in year 2. He has the talent to push for that starting role but I wouldn't bet the farm on it based on Nick being better in HS.

Exactly, Jwins! I've said from the start that Nick could and will get PT in the 2 deep, but thinking he's an automatic starter based on what Hs coaches have said, based on what he's doing in HS means nothing in college. Your Hs rating and what your HS coaches opinions may be, means nothing in college. Like I've also stated, many former 5star have been can't miss by analysts and their own coaches, and got to college and had a rude awakening. Nothing is given, especially not from a Urban Meyer coached team

On that we agree. One thing to add about an Urban Meyer coached team. If the kid has the talent he will see the field no matter what year he is in.

No doubt. But DL isn't exactly the easiest position to transition to, but with LJsr using a platoon, that can be an aid to any incoming frosh. Theres a great chance that he'll be in the rotation, and that's all we can ask for from his first year

So going by your own logic of stars, pedigree, and high school accomplishments meaning nothing then how are you so sure he'll end up in the 2 deep? After all, there are players who have more college experience than him and therefore likely better right?

By my statements, I've said he COULD crack the 2 deep. But nice try. And going by Meyers coaching logic, none of those factors matter either.

Let's all take a step back. It's always best to never deal in absolutes with recruiting, as it always deals with some degree of speculation. Nick is the best DL I have seen at the high school level since I've followed recruiting, particularly in regard to being college ready. I can't guarantee what he'll do once he steps on campus but I can say with a high degree of confidence he will probably play right away, whether it is sparingly or in a starting role. And as for position, again it's just a projection for now.

Some of this probably depends on if he enrolls early or not and plays in the Spring game as well. That would give him a leg up and 6 months prep before really battling for a starting spot in the following fall.

If you haven't... watch him play
In 2013, I remember watching JOEY in numerous games and a bunch of his videos
I thought.. "he can get away with that in HS but college is a whole new ballgame"
then he proceeded to do the same things in college
I should have taken into acct, he did this against some of the premier HS teams in the country

Nick/STA plays elite teams ... they triple team him .. and he still makes the play

IMO.. Nick is much more athletic/nimble and MEANER than Joey
I think if Nick did any of the stuff these other kids do... camps, Oregon, etc
he'd be the #1 ranking in every service.. hands down.. Jadeveon Clowney all over
