DE Noah Spence (Official Thread)

True, but if Spence had travelled south of the Mason-Dixon line his stats would be even better with his new-found southern speed.

But he played better OTs on a weekly bases, idk if his numbers would still be as high. And if you look at clowneys year last year, spence isn't touching it. Clowney has probably mailed in this season and has looked towards the NFL. Comparing clowneys stats this year is useless because he's hardly played at his usual elite level, maybe he's injured, maybe he's mentally moved on, IMO, or maybe OCs have just schemed against him better, but clowney would decimate the big 10!
Spence is good in his own right and we shouldn't make comparisons to a guy like clowney.

Clowney would decimate the B1G?
Dude is tough, but B1G OL's aren't a joke compared to anyone, SEC included. Especially considering that B1G officials don't seem to know what holding is. If Spence played in the SEC, he'd have better numbers than he does now. Also don't forget that 4.5 of Clowney's 13 sacks last year came against Clemson. Noah still gets to go against Lewan, so he might rack up 6 or 7 in The Game alone.

Noah is the best "work in progress" for a sophomore in the country. Obviously he has room to improve and needs to prove himself against the best of the best, but I think he has been downright dominant (sans occasionally in the run game). When he hasn't got sacks, he has still been flat out disruptive. I couldn't be much happier with Spence's development right now.

Dont know why you think Clowney would dominate in the B1G. The guy has no heart. Clowney tries 50% of the time, and disappears in the 4th quarter. Statements like this perpetuate the SEC's overblown greatness. (I know the conference has won the last 7 NC's but as a total conference they are over rated).

Coming into his own now and with the rest of the Dline getting better as well, they can't always help out on Noah. Going to be flat out Beasting by Game time. With coaches putting us in all out attack mode now (God I've been screaming for this for years it seems), all bets are off for how good our defense can become.

We legitimately have 2 full defensive lines that can get to the QB and make plays. That's mid 90's Florida State stuff. Once the LBers become OSU LBers, it's over.

Lol, yes you're right that the sec is overrated, 7 NCs say otherwise. Their elite teams are far better than the elite in the big 10, how can you not agree. I don't see how outside of Osu, MSU, Wisconsin and Nebraska would hypnotically play well against the fake USC, LSU, and UGA. Clowney has no heart and all the blah blah blah you said and still had 25 tackles for loss against a conference that has recently put far more OTs in the league. And put more players in the NfL in general, but my bad, the sec is as good as the big 10 in your eyes...
Anyway back to Noah. This kid is starting to come into his own, and is playing like we all thought he would. Not to mention, the d line as a whole has stepped up big time.

Yeah none of that really applies to Clowney. I also like how him sucking this year is because of some excuse blah blah blah. Your argument is weak.
Back to Noah I'd rather have a guy with half the talent and twice the heart because he makes his teammates better.

Yeah I hear you. It is an excuse for poor play this year. Hopefully spence doesn't fall into the same slump later in his career and has a much better work ethic. Spence fits perfect in our defense and hopes he turns into a leader

It's because Clowney excuse excuse excuse!

One stat that's not measured is how many times were each of them held without it being a penalty. Since Noah has played Wisky and Clowney has not, I'm guessing it's somewhere around 2bajillion to 0

Typical SEC homer if I've ever seen one. I see you have conveniently forgot to add the PSU game to your total.:roll2:
