DL Dominic Kirks (Official Thread)

The player holds off from signing with Washington and schedules a visit to Ohio State in January, Washington loses their HC and the player immediately decommits, the player visits Ohio State and receives an offer… can I please log my expert insider prediction that he’s about to commit to Ohio State?
Yeah some mysteries solve themselves don't they? Really glad this is happening though, we had to get another DE in this class and I think very highly of Kirks...a bit raw but with some tutelage he can be really good here imo.

Also just lost their OC as well. Wouldn’t be surprised when they bring in a new sheriff if some defensive coaches find new homes.

THE HURRY-UP: CALEB DOWNS REPORTEDLY COULD DECIDE TUESDAY ON POTENTIAL TRANSFER, FOUR-STAR 2024 DE DOMINIC KIRKS PICKS UP AN OSU OFFER

Momentum is now trending for Kirks to eventually become the Buckeyes’ 21st commit in the 2024 class, with the Painesville resident eligible to sign on Feb. 7. But OSU isn’t the only school pursuing the 6-foot-4, 255-pound prospect, as USC also has expressed interest in the Ohio product.

Kirks will decide within the next three weeks and will be a summer enrollee at whichever school he picks. As of this moment, it feels like that will be Ohio State.

New Talking Stuff today. Birm and AE feel good about Kirks right now. The one thing to monitor is if DeBoer goes after Kirks late given everything Bama is losing but to this point that hasn't happened. Birm thinks this will likely be publicly announced by Monday and if not then maybe start to wonder. Birm sees Kirks as a prototypical SDE who likely will play at somewhere around 6'5 265lbs.

FOUR-STAR 2024 DEFENSIVE END DOMINIC KIRKS COMMITS TO OHIO STATE

Ohio State has put the finishing touch on its 2024 class.

After signing 20 players in the Early Signing Period on Dec. 20, Larry Johnson and Ryan Day added what will likely be the final commitment for the current cycle on Saturday with the commitment of four-star Ohio defensive end Dominic Kirks.

With Kirks’ commitment, Ohio State also jumps from No. 5 to No. 3 in 247Sports' national recruiting class rankings, slightly edging out Texas for the No. 3 spot. He's the third defensive lineman to join OSU's 2024 class, alongside signees Eddrick Houston and Eric Mensah, and is the 21st commit in total.

Per 247Sports' composite rankings, Kirks is considered the 251st-ranked prospect and the 33rd-best defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle. He'll begin his career at Ohio State at defensive end, but has the frame to move inside if necessary.

Welcome to the fam Dominic! He'll need some time to develop and find a true position as he's more of a tweener right now, but can be a talented starter in time. Could even break the rotation by year 2, as I think he's a redshirt next season. I guess the staff saw all they needed from Mr. Kirks to let him pull the trigger
