DT Adolphus "Diesel" Washington (Official Thread)

Free 24/7 - A football player and a gentleman

Every day around the same time in the early evening, a young Adolphus Washington would head for the porch to wait outside for his best friend to come home.

His dad.

Named after his father who at 25-years old took full custody of him when he was just eight-months old, the younger Adolphus looked to spend every moment with his dad that he could.

"Growing up we had a lot of fun," he said. "I used to always be with him not matter what. If he was outside hanging out, I was outside with him. I was just hanging with him at all times."

His dad wouldn?t of had it any other way.

"Me and his mother didn?t see eye to eye, and at the time she thought it was best for a young man to be raised by his father," the elder Washington began. "I assumed it was starting off as temporary, but seeing how well I was raising him, she let him stay with me."

Excellent read...from the article:

Washington has a leader

As a junior, Washington racked up 119 tackles and 17 sacks in earning All-State honors. Heading into his senior season, he?s narrowed his list of scholarship offers to Alabama, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State, with Notre Dame on the outside looking in.

The in-state Buckeyes are out in front, and Washington is looking to take his official visit to Columbus with his Taft teammate Dwayne Stanford the weekend of Sept. 10 for the Toledo game.

"I love Ohio State," Washington said. "I love the tradition. I was talking to the coaches, and (defensive coordinator) Coach (Jim) Heacock said I have a good chance to compete as a freshman for a starting spot because I'm a good rush end and they don't have any true rush ends. The campus is nice. The environment is good. The people were nice at the Miami game last year. I was walking to the recruiting room where we had a luncheon, and one of the people in the crowd screamed my name and it made me feel good."

The program that may have the best chance of pushing Ohio State for Washington?s signature is the Crimson Tide.

I don't think Washington has anything to worry about if he just wants a fair to chance to "compete" for playing time as a freshman.... talented enough to compete anywhere.

This might be a good place to say again that true freshmen Doran Grant, Michael Bennett, and Steve Miller all received time with the first team defense today to go along with true freshman Joel Hale and Ryan Shazier playing with the second team (and therefore are already in the two deep).

I also should mention that all except Hale (who was here in the spring) started on the third team or worse and worked their way up.

2013 deeper class ?

:osu:we wont be number one even in the big ten recruiting class this year if were not hit that hard by ncaa we need to get off to a good start in 2013. which is why i think we should extend coach fickels contract. i know plenty will disagree but i dont want urban i dont trust him or his health issues give luke a real chance so he can go into the high schools and living rooms and say yes I will be the ohio state football coach all four years of your college career.
