You can really see the two-tone look here:

I still find that interesting. I wonder if they are trying to duplicate the fade look of many free throw lanes in basketball arenas. I don't really see the point though, as most fade from one school color to another, not different shades of the same color. Still may be just the viewing angle, though the change looks pretty dramatic..

yea i don't know what to say about that anymore besides maybe it needs brushed but its awfully distinct in difference. you can't see the webcam pics from before today but in the morning hours it will be bright by the goalpost side and then later in the day it is dark on the goalpost side.

The texture seems different, too. Almost looks like it was put in backwards or something, though I can't imagine that's the case. Or like half of it is just paint... possible that's a placeholder until they bring the words in? Nah, but it's still looks odd.

I imagine that is the grain of the turf, which will change when infill is added as it is drug or brushed in. That one picture looks somehow different than just that though.

well i also noticed that the "scarleter" of the 2 surfaces that the side sitting next to the goalpost appears to be taller/higher than the turf by the goalline.

AAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!!!

It's the grain!

the blades are leaning in opposite directions from being unrolled in different directions.
When the sun is in the east, the blades leaning toward the east will look darker and the others will look lighter, As the sun goes over to the west, they will look opposite than before because the sun is on the other side.

The roll of turf with the blades leaning away from the sun will look lighter - it is reflecting all the light. The roll of turf with the blades leaning into the sun will look darker because the blades are creating shade on itself.

Once its brushed and filled, it will all look the same!

I hate that damn flag pole!!! ... Sorry, that's just been bugging me for years. Anyway, the field looks great, but it is too bad that the school seems to have given up on gray. Oh well.:pimp:

where would you rather have the pole? if they fit the original plan that they laid out, the field is still going to have some gray in it.
