2025 FL WR Vernell Brown III (Verbal Offer)

Per 11w poster:

Post visit update on WR Vernell Brown, per BK.

Going into the visit, I said I liked where the Buckeyes stood with Brown and that I currently had him "in" the class.
After the visit, based on what I am told, my feelings have not changed.
I have Florida State as the Buckeyes' biggest challenger right now, followed by Miami.
Brian Hartline likes this kid a lot:

Hartline let Brown know that despite the Buckeyes having a very talented wide receiver room, Brown has a set of skills that would play very well in that room.
Hartline emphasized with Brown that he has dynamic ability with the ball in my hands, elite short area quickness, and high-level ability to set people up and spatial awareness.

Remember, this guy is a South Florida WR, not a RB :horse:. While there are some very good QBs in the South, there's only one Brian Hartline. That alone is worth the miserable winters, slush, frost bites, etc. Besides, didn't one WR just decommit, and he was touted for the slot position? Maybe he spoke with Vernell? Go Bucks! tOSU will get their yearly four.

Boggs' decommit definitely elevates Vernell on the wish list, staff will be pushing hard here.

A visit to Ohio State definitely stood out as the Buckeyes and the Florida programs are the ones to watch most in Brown’s recruitment moving forward.
An official list has not been released yet by the four-star athlete from Orlando (Fla.) Jones but the Buckeyes are high on the list because of how much of a priority Brown felt like he was in Columbus and because the visit went so well.
“I liked everything about it,” Brown said.

I would be more concerned about depending on two South Florida commits to hold their commitments, but at WR it is a bit of a different animal right now. Not only the Hartline advantage, but having Tate, Innis and JJ Smith in the room sure helps. If Brown commits and it sticks, I will be ecstatic...we do need an electric slot guy and he is the epitome of that.

The receiver position was the deepest and hardest to sort out when it came time to select a MVP. Multiple receivers won every one-on-one rep they took but, in the end, it was Brown’s well-rounded skill set and his undefeated record in one-on-ones that gave him the edge in the MVP race. He made explosive plays all over the field on Sunday and has success on a variety of routes. Brown ran short, intermediate, and deep routes from the outside and the slot and defensive backs were unable to keep him in check. It was particularly impressive to watch Brown’s advanced route running skills cause defensive backs to hesitate and lose ground while he blew by them for a long catch.
