Friday was a two-cigar night

GoBucks89

Straight Shooting
Friday I smoked the following:

A Trinidad Churchill: It was medium-bodied, but the flavor didn't do much for me. I usually like medium cigars but this one was mediocre. I got it as part of a 12-cigar sampler that my mother got me for my birthday. Not bad for free, but I wouldn't pay more than $1.50 per stick if I was buying a box.

A Joya Del Jefe Robusto: This one was mild, but actually quite tasty. It had a creamy taste that was very satisfying. Most mild cigars leave me bored stiff these days but this one was worth it. The current C.I. special (see link) on these (50 for $49.95) looks like a great deal.

The occasion was one last guys' night out for the son of a friend of mine who is in the Army Reserve and has been ordered to active duty in Iraq. We got all the guys together and had a serious smoke-off. It was a great time.

I'm trying to give up smoking cigarettes-so far so good for the most part, so I am going to have to pay more attention to cigars in the future. The last good cigar I smoked was a Punch #3 something or another. Very dark, but a surprisingly smooth and light finish.

I bought about 200$ worth of cigars at the smokers preferred that went out of business in Gahanna and Reynoldsburg about 2 years ago. Each cigar was 1$ which was insane considering what I got. I bought about 60 H upmans and everything in between 7$ to 15$ cigars. I still have about 50 or 60 left. I try and smoke 2 fattys a week . I bought a 150$ humidor for 10$ ,and I also bought 30 or 40 zippos for 5$ each. I turned around and sold those zippos on ebay for a helluva profit

Picked up a box of A.Fuente Rothschilds with the natural wrapper... nice little suckers.

I also tried a single stick of Acid earthiness... different, at first a bit too sweet. After a while it grew on me. They are almost flavored cigars. Different, good for a change of pace every now and then. Anybody tried other Acids? I don't think I'd like it as a once a week smoke, but a once every several months isn't bad...

I have tried Blotter, a few dozen times, and even a little windowpane. The wp was a lot sweeter, the blotter was a little papery.

seriously, where did you get them, I have talked to a couple other guys who said they liked them on the golf course. I have not seen them.

Nasty,

They are flavored... several guys I know only smoke Acids... others hate them... there doesn't seem to be a middle ground (except for me... I'll smoke them every now and them to mix things up... although I couldn't smoke them all the time). They are normal cigars with flavored oils put on the tobacco leaf.

I tried the red label (don't recal what the name was), and earthiness. Earthiness was good, the red label was bad.

Many smoke shops don't carry Acid, because they are supposed to be stored alone. If they are put in with all the other cigars they can make the other cigars taste like them (the oils can leak out and other cigars can pick up the taste).

Barclay's (both locations) has some flavors, as does a cigar shop in Dublin off Muirfield. Smokers Haven does not carry them... those are the only three shops I frequent... I'd call stores around you to find them if these locations aren't close to you...

If you do try them, don't put them in your humidor with other good smokes, they can cause the good smokes to taste like the flavored oil in the acids!!!

They had a "Cigar tasting party" at Have a Cigar on Hamilton Road in Gahanna a few weeks ago. I picked up several different cigars of theirs. My favorite is Kuba Kuba. I love the Sumatra wrapper, and the orange-spice flavor they add is just enough to accent the cigar's flavor. Excellent.

Here are the others:

Cold Infusion Tea - Very smooth and mellow. You could smoke a lot of these and not feel it. It has a peach tea sort of aroma infused and is a pretty mild smoke.

Atom Maduro - I'm not normally a maduro guy, but this one is not as heavy as they usually are. It was pretty good; lots of flavor and not too harsh.

Star Monkey - This odd little box-pressed cigar is quite mellow at the start but it builds up strength as it goes along. It's usually not available in retail shops but somehow they got some in there. Very good if you like a strong cigar.

Roam - Pretty mild with a floral aroma. I had trouble drawing it. It's Churchill sized and I think it had been over-humidified. Still I'd recommend it if you like mild. I don't think it would be my everyday cigar though.

1400cc - Highly aromatic mild cigar that smokes well. Similar to Roam but smaller and with a stronger fragrance. They ship these in glass tubes to preserve the flavor. They're not too bad but I still like Kuba Kuba better.

Def Sea - These are also not available in a retail shop. They can only be bought through Cigars International. One of my smoking buddies bought a box of 5 from them and he let me have a couple of them. I love them. They have a Sumatra wrapper just like Kuba Kuba but the flavor is better and they are highly aromatic. The entire group will know when you've lit up one of these babies. If not for the price, I would probably make them my regular smoke.

Here is where I bought mine.

Nasty, you might want to check out Acid cigars. After all, they did go to the trouble of naming one after you.
