Game Thread Game Six: #1 Ohio State 35, Bowling Green 7 (10/07/06)

Maybe it's me, so I'll ask here since there are quite a few more knowledgable about the "in and outs" of football.

Doesn't it seem like Pittman is relying too much on the "bounce out." I noticed it, even though it got quite a bit of success, during the Iowa game and again today. If Pittman played a team that was a bit faster and better at open field tackling he'd take losses on a few plays. Of course, that could be asking alot of the defenses we face.

Is the Oline not making the holes big enough? Is Pittman relying too much? Or am I just crazy/ignorant on this matter?

the holes up the middle haven't been nearly as gapping as the holes on the left. rehring and boone have been very good this season in run blocking. you'll notice both pitt and beanie bounce out to the left ALOT. most of the time it is because they see a massive hole on that side. the rest of the time is because when you see nothing, bet on what you know.

what the hell was bg's drive to open the 2nd half all about? we couldn't get off the field and they used the whole quarter need to stop playing to our opponents and bury these teams the next five weeks :osu:

a very young d allowed 7 points in 4 quarters to a team that has likely been prepping for this game since their final game of last season. just something i think we should all keep in mind.

we were flat on both sides of the ball today. can't say i didn't expect it. but it wasn't what i had hoped to see. *shrug* id complain more about them playing flat and "to their opponents level" had they not won by 28...

Let me get this straight... If I lived in Waco, TX or Sioux City, IA, I'd have no problem getting the game. But since I live in OHIO - I can't.

Let me repeat... I live in OHIO. :smash:

It's why I have problems with Cincinnati, largest city and cultural capital of Kentucky.

No offense, but BG cared about this game as much as our game against FIU. This game meant nothing to the BG season, and we spent the same amount of time getting ready for it as we would any OOC game.

What's the word on Patterson, anyone know?

Tressel didn't say much during the post game presser... wouldn't say what was wrong. Coach said he'd be "day-to-day" going into the MSU game.

Tell that to all the BG kids on the roster who dreamed of growing up in Ohio and playing for OSU.

Congrats to OSU on a good win, i think that it was a pretty good game all around and i like the effort by my BGers. We just dont have the talent and depth to match the #1 team in the land. We are also so young. I think we are on teh right track. Good Luck the rest of the way to Jim Tressel and the Buckeyes.

Did anyone else notice the BG over shift on defense?
Helped to slow our running to the left down.

Barton's injury slowed us down some.
But, basically, we just played with them. :tongue2:

We seemed off, today.
Let down?

Well it looks like this team plays the best in big games, so I don't expect many massive blowouts.

I never thought I'd say this a couple of years ago...but now I absolutely LOVE the fact that every team the Bucks play honestly thinks they were only a few plays away from winning the game.

It's took me long enough to figure out that Coach Tressell does the absolute least amount necessary to win...so that when it comes down to brass tacks (TSUN & Bowls) he can unleash a team that no one saw coming.

Think the rest of college football will ever figure it out?

Absolutely brilliant.
