You can't look at the spring game as indication, as far as anyone should be concerned the spring game is just 1 practice and there are too many variables in terms of match ups to say a lot about particular players. Just a couple years ago Bauserman shined in the spring game, looking more impressive then Todd Boeckman. Everybody on the roster is an extremely talented player and all can have good days here or there. The guys that are at the top of the depth chart are the ones that are the most consistent.

Will Guiton be a better option at some point: Probably. You have to take into consideration where he is at in his development. Tressel probably just feels more comfortable with Joe's all around grasp of the offense right now. It isn't easy to come into the game cold, especially when your taking over an offense that hasn't moved the ball all that much on that particular day. Tressel had more faith in Bauserman to manage a tight game. I think Tressel does pretty well managing his teams in general when we get into situations like yesterday where our guys probably just didn't come out and play the way they are capable of. The situation we were in at that point in the game with our starting QB going down with the depth we have behind him COULD have been disasterous

no way to sugarcoat it.... there is no possible way guiton can be worse than bauserman. Guiton all the way.
I think thats where I agree most. Bauserman seems like he is panicky/flighty and is not a calm presence. I don't see how Guiton can be worse than that, especially after a back-up is needed to sooth the offense, not continue a panic mode. But this point is moot if Pryor can remain healthy. Its not the biggest decision for the staff to make.

I'm pretty confident that KG wouldn't be any worse. Given his age and upside, I don't see why he shouldn't be the backup.

So are you then in favor of moving other players down on the roster that are seniors and backups? I mean if we should do it for QB, we should prolly do the same for the young lineman too?

If it makes the team better, yes.

But that's not really what I said. I'm in favor of letting young guys play instead of seniors if there's no drop-off in play. I don't think there would be in this case. Might as well give the young guy who could use the experience the call, imo.

Again, someone explain outside of a Spring Game where Guiton has outplayed Bauserman. Tangible things please, not "chemistry" or anything like that.
There is nothing, because Guiton has only played a couple of series of real game action. Anybody claiming to know that Guiton is better than Bauserman is making shit up. There is zero evidence. Bauserman looked awful, Guiton could very well look worse. IMO, it doesn't matter either way. Just like most other teams in college football, if our star QB goes down, we're fucked. There's no polishing that turd. Bauserman is not gonna lead this team to glory and I suspect Guiton wouldn't either given his inexperience and how raw he is. TP is the offense. Plain and simple.

Since I'm not privy to what goes on in practices and team meetings, I'll vote option #3 on this one: Let the coaches decide.

In Tressel I trust.

Want to elaborate on this by saying that I don't think it really matters too much in this situation. As NFBuck said, we're fucked if TP goes down. I'd rather see a guy who could grow and have time left with the program get serious reps if we're fucked anyways.

The coaches don't get everything right.. The only reason I can see why Guiton isn't the back up QB, is because he's a freshman and Tressel would be afraid of turnovers, although I'm not quite sure how he would be confident in Joe not to turn the ball over.

No they do not, but they have a helluva lot more information than the average message board poster on the subject.

If Joe doesn't throw that bad pick than we're not having this discussion.
It was a bad decision which brings up the whole issue.
Is he really "mature" and less likely to make a big mistake?
Both guys can hand the ball off so who brings more to the table?
Guiton is very quick running the option so that's his plus over Joe B.
