How does work make you feel today?

Can someone please explain to me how our web designer doesn't know how to cut out images from a background on photoshop other than using an eraser? Meaning she just told me she can't clean up the edges of an image because she can't get a clean cut using the eraser....:smash:  :smash:

Ummmm... :slappy: :slappy:

I'm hardly a full blown web/graphics designer, but I'm pretty sure that getting rid of backgrounds and isolating subjects is one of the first things anyone serious about using the software learns (well, at least when you're teaching yourself, never have taken a real design class), considering how often you're doing that.

My point exactly...its not hard to do, you can learn how to do it decently in about 30 min with some practice. It's mind boggling.

Also, I love our Town Hall days. I worked for maybe a total of two hours this morning, and then went to a 3 hour meeting where we had "light refreshments" that consisted of two gigantic trays of chicken tenders, veggie and cheese trays, chips, drinks, and desserts...plus the lunch I packed.

I can't wait until next summer, assuming the World Cup doesn't get rioted out of action. Hopefully the Brazilian tour groups will take a break and stay home for the futbol and make summer in the swamp a little more bearable. Although...they'll probably be here in larger numbers in late winter because of the WC...just can't win with the groups.

You know it's going to be an odd day when the first guest interaction you have involves one of their kids head butting you. Thankfully he missed the goods and hit just to the side and up closer to my hip. Hopefully that's the worst thing in store for me!

We vote today on working 4 12-hour shifts with 3 days "guaranteed" off (Friday-Sunday) or keep working normal 8-hour shifts M-F and get assigned almost every Saturday. 12 hour shifts are not a long term solution, especially working four in a row. The main issue is junk equipment that never runs and always puts us behind. Management is trying everything except dealing with the real issue. Fuck that place.

This waiting game for that new role is really wearing on me, I now have a serious itch to get away from dealing with guests and the weather. On a positive note, one of our new hires is a photographer as his main job, so I have someone to talk to about that now.

I'm ok with having to chase down the staff physicians to get them to do compliance-y things (as long as it doesn't take too long), because they all carry ridiculous patient loads and i'm not the only desk weenie clamoring for their attention.

However, the next research Fellow who procrastinates his way through 3 warnings and a deadline is getting his ass kicked. Right around the second warning.

All they do all day is review patient charts. And nap. They have a habit of napping. If you can't take 3 minutes to complete one simple task that is absolutely not optional, then I pity the shithouse country that gave you a medical degree and license. Sure wasn't the US...
