Idea to Redout Penn State

Can we blast a cannon every time we score?

How about a dog mascot named "osu" we can keep on the sideline? A Husky/Bulldog mix, of course.

Don't forget the Terrible Towel, too. And a rally monkey. Oh, and can't we also make it Disco Night?

And if this copycat thing catches on, I can't wait to see next year in Happy Valley when the Penn State sousaphone player trots out to dot the "e". The crowd will go absolutely nuts!

Every school has its traditions. We have ours. Penn State has their own. Penn State also obviously has its gimmicks--this "white out" thing. We don't need any gimmicks--we're Buckeyes. We always have >100K screaming fans.

Be a Buckeye. Don't be an imitation Lion. :oh:

Penn St. wants to be our rival so bad they can't see straight in Happy Valley. That is why last years game was so big to them, hence the "white-out". It was a primetime game, against a highly touted Buckeye team and they wanted to try to prove they were a legit title contender. For God sakes they camped out all week for the game.

In Columbus we have one rival and one rival only and thats scUM. All most people care about is that we beat them at the end of the year, and the hatred for scUM runs deep with alot of people. Most people could give a shit otherwise about PSU other then they want to win the game like any other. Most Buckeye fans I know don't harbor bad feeling for PSU like they would scUM. Although, when I got on the plane to go to Austin I sat next to a lady and this was the direct quote I got. "Oh no, a Penn St. fans worst luck, having to sit next to an OSU fan." I told her we don't care about PSU, we don't want to be your rival, we have our own already.

This is why I think the sea of scarlet is kind stupid because for most people this game is no bigger than playing Wisky, Minn or MSU. When they come to town we dont do a sea of scarlet, because nobody cares. Like it was said in a previous post, this one-upsmanship is stupid. So their fans played a possible part in the outcome of the game. Our fans play a part in the outcome of every game. We are pretty much loud and crazy for every game. If you need a "white-out" to get your fans excited you have problems with your fan base.

Go Bucks!!

Havn't thought of it that way until reading this thread.. very true.

I'll be wearing red in a class at Hondros during the game trying to avoid all communications with the outside world until i can get home and watch the DVR

I will be at a wedding this Saturday:(

I will wear some scarlet underwear though

screw that, wear your jersey, get really drunk and scream along to Hang on Sloopy (which you have requested to be played every other song at the reception) to protest whoever scheduled the wedding on the same day as an Ohio State game

What i don't understand is that both the bride and groom are OSU alumns. They must be closet, window lickers.

Look guys, whether you are on board with the idea or not, could it really hurt just to wear your scarlet colored jersey for one game? Its not going to spoil your fun, but if you wear white, it might dissapoint some others.

And I think you guys are looking at this the wrong way. It's not a matter of "drumming up support."

It's a matter of having fun, doing something new, and creating an even more hostile environment than there is already.

So for you oldtimers (and yes, there are plenty here) who are too stubborn to just pull out a scarlet jersey, could you just go along with this and have fun with it for one day?
