If you could have one person back from 2002....

If you could have one person back from the championship team in 2002, who would it be? Clarett? Krenzel? Smith, Doss? Perhaps Jenkins..

I was just thinking how this team probably has more all around- talent than the 2002 version. Not that that team had no talent, but they didn't play Texas, and they didn't play a dominant psu team. If the 2005 version played the same schedule, I truely think we not only would have been undefeated, but we wouldn't have had any of those close losses.

As for the player I would take? I gotta go with Chris Gamble. From the 2002 team, he's having the best NFL career so far, and might even make the pro bowl this year on a great defense. Along with Doss, I can't remember many better clutch players in our history, and nothing against youboty or everett, I would take him in a flash over those guys.

not sure what you're asking... for the full 05 season? for the bowl game?

clarett is a strong consideration, but I have to go with Will Smith.

If he was at DE opposite Kudla, we do not lose a single game this year. The other guys on the line were very good as well, but he was the biggest reason that defense was so disruptive.

Chris Gamble and it's not close.

The improvement in our defense, both statistically and from a real game dominance perspective was phenomenal when he started playing every snap at corner. A lock-down corner like that is an absolute team transformer. Holmes calls Gamble the best player that he ever went up against in practice.

I think Youboty has been playing hurt since the Michigan State game and it shows up in the way other teams went right at him. If he's not healthy... and trust me, if it's something like a muscle pull, it takes a long time to heal.. then I go for Gamble. We don't need another receiver, but his ability to take the other guy's best receiver out of the game was crucial to that defense.

If Youboty is healthy then I have to go with Will Smith. Pittman is no Clarett... and for portions of that I'm so very glad... but Will Smith opposite Kudla would more than assure that Quinn would have to unlace his shoes to breath.
