Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

Nah I wouldn't say that...I'm not a bad person to anybody personally, don't make fun of people, etc. I would say I was a bad teammate because I let myself, my teammates and my coaches down as far as being there, playing to my ability, etc.
aren't you "tha kid" who acted like a complete ass to this website and it's members on your Illinois forum?

This post really makes me happy, Kid. Seriously. It's the first time I can remember you owning up to all of your talk (mostly). The first step is admitting you were a knucklehead. The second step is preventing a relapse.

A word of advice? Try to mix in some negatives with the thousands of positive vibes you feel towards our Illini tacklers. You got a huge rush out of predicting a big bowl game in 2007 (and you were spot on), and you reinvested that adrenaline into even bigger and better predictions for 2008. Now that those fell flat, learn the lesson.

If 5-7 taught you anything last year, it's this: turning 100 year of mostly misery into a consistent winning program is effing hard work. And there are still dozens of bumps in the road ahead. Realize that Reggie Ellis' arms might just be too short to make a solid, Big Ten D-tackle. That sometimes, a solid 4-star receiver recruit just never pans out (like Marques Wilkins). That as much as we'd love to tout our "sleepers" like Walt Aikens, fans of Iowa and New Mexico State and Baylor and Akron are doing the same thing. With the same 10% success rate.

Whenever I feel my britches getting to big, I do this: I go read an obscure football message board for a smaller program like North Texas or Toledo. And when I read things like "you know, if Henson comes back from his injury 100% and Parker shows the ability that led Iowa State and South Carolina to offer him a scholarship, we might have the top linebacking corps in the conference, if not the country!", I realize that we're all out here in the message board universe doing the same thing: offering each other hope. Sad thing is, the number of games lost by D-I football programs is still hovering right at 50%. Most of the time, as a fan, you have to take your lumps, knowing that the possibilities for that glorious season are few and far between.

That said, 10 wins in 2009, baby! Four-year-starter Juice to 5-star Benn, 5-star Fayson, and 7 other 4-star wideouts! Road games at Purdue, Indiana, and Minnesota? Skipping Iowa and Wisconsin on the schedule? THIS IS OUR YEAR.

I've had enough of the far between. It's time for the few.

Roughy I always own up to anything I say if I'm wrong. It's just a part of me. I'm definitely not going back to being a lazy student and athlete. It already kills me to know the potential I had both on and off the field (I'm really smart) and how I failed to use it for the most part on the high school level. The good part is, like I said, I'm not bad. I've never been in trouble with the law or anything. I just made many dumb decisions.

As far as your view on talking about Illinois, I do offer negatives all the time. It's just that the they are far and few. I try to make a positive image of Illinois because recruits and their parents do read this stuff. I prefer to always be more positive than negative. This doesn't mean that I don't share the same thoughts you post on here (As far as the Reggie Ellis part, that some guys won't work out, etc.), I just don't post most of it on the internet.

With all this being said, I do think they will surprise this year and I'm hoping for 10 wins as well. Juice is a senior throwing to arguably the best WR corp in the B10 (And among the best in the country), the RB's look good and the offensive line has talent and a little depth. The defense is the question, but in experience only. They may have to outscore opponents early, but they are more than capable. The defense just depends on how guys keep developing in their new spots. Martez looks like the next beast in the middle at linebacker. He's not completely there yet but he is getting there. I also read your post about not having a single D1 LB and I disagree. There are some potential big timers with more experience. The DL has Pilcher and some solid ends including Jerry Brown (Big time potential) if he can get his academics straight. When Brent comes back, he and Corey Liuget will form a top DT tandem. There's just a whole lot of athleticism and potential for the defense. The good thing is, as OSU showed a few years ago, a defense can learn very quickly despite inexperience. I think/hope the Illinois defense will learn very quickly.

Yeah I'm "ThaKid101" on the Illinois site, and it was only a couple of posters that came over there doing what I was doing over here. And I would reply with something like "Go back to your board and talk that mess. That's the same stuff your guys would tell me". Yeah I talked about a couple of posters but at the same time I said there were some cool posters like wad, etc.

No, there was somebody over there telling lies about this site. When some posters went over there to confront you....saying like you acted like an ass is being nice.

Apologies if it wasn't you.....but I'm pretty sure it was.

Oh I think it was illinidarrin. I was with him in saying that I don't think there was fair treatment on this site especially when we were posting in an Illinois thread, though. But over time I've realized this is a Buckeye site so I can't voice my opinion as strong as I did when I first got on here.

Ah that sounds more familiar. Sorry for the mix up.
