James Robinson (WR Florida Gators)

Being a recruiting novice, why pay for the visit then? Are there other WR that are rated higher that could change his status if they go elsewhere? Is it a case of becoming a take if the off the field reservations are cleaned up? Combination of both?

If it's just strictly the latter, I'm not sure how he could put minds at ease in just a few months...

Andrew Ellis on 11W indicated he was a "hard pass" on Robinson due to off field issues before the visit even took place.

But what's the point of bringing him up if it's due to something prior to the visit? Whatever it is, it wasn't bad enough to not give him a look at. So I don't agree with Andrew Ellis and his 3rd party Twitter sources. Maybe his visit reaffirmed things, but I highly doubt their minds were made up beofore, after visiting him at his school and flying him to Columbus... would be a whole lot of wasted time for all involved.

I think he meant for him personally, he was a "hard pass" on Robinson versus that being the staff position.

Per a source, Florida coach Jim McElwain reached out to Lakeland (Fla.) High's staff in the last 30 minutes and informed them the Gators won't be sending a National Letter of Intent for four-star wide receiver James Robinson on Wednesday.

Robinson was a longtime lean to the Gators.

He was cited for possession of marijuana last weekend on an official visit to Ohio State.

Since learning of this development, Robinson's camp has heard from Marshall, Syracuse, and Bowling Green.

The four-star recruit is ranked as the nation's No. 14 wide receiver and the No. 21 prospect in Florida in the 2017 class by the 247SportsComspoite.

Yeah. Total bone head move but I made just as bad if not worse mistakes that could have had terrible consequences too I just got lucky. Possession of weed in and of itself is relatively minor and it's even legal in many states. To have a major impact on your future line that seems overly harsh to me. I mean OJ killed two people and got nothing for Peet's sake.
