Javon Ringer: Offer the kid already!

Rivals posted some film on Javon that I haven’t seen before and it has reaffirmed my belief that he is deserving of an offer, as long as his grades are straightened out. This is especially true because I don’t think we have a RB on our roster that is like him (not including Kennedy because I haven’t seen much film of him). The thing that jumps out most about Javon, I feel, is his balance and his low center of gravity. I will try to describe his game to you, though words don’t do him justice. You can tell by the video he is on the smallish size, but at 5-9 (maybe a bit generous) and 190-200 pounds that have been reported that isn’t a bad thing for RBs especially in this case. He doesn’t hit the hole at 100mph, but he doesn’t hesitate either, he uses the time to find a hole, which he seems to do quite well because of his vision. Javon has deceptive speed he doesn’t seem to be a blazer, until you see him outrunning everyone on the field including those that had angles on him. I believe Dayton Chaminade-Julienne is Division II so the competition he is against are no slouches.
A lot of people have likened him to Barry Sanders and I can see the similarities, but he doesn’t have that abrupt stop and quick acceleration that Sanders had, but he does have some similar moves. His spin move was a thing of beauty (balance), but where he really excels is breaking arm tackles and keeping his legs churning. Note to the Big Ten next year (hopefully): get your shoulder pads on him and don’t use your arms. It’s amazing to watch him get out of some of the tackles and scrums that he does, which seems to be do to his low center of gravity (not to mention his strength). Put me on the list of being a believer that this kid is something special.
