Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

So they're paying tribute to the 1954 team by using a helmet they never wore?

The press release was very specific about an homage to that one team. This is a casserole of multiple eras, including the winged oregon era and beyond.

Exactly...find 1 attribute from these abominations that resemble anything from 1954. as previously stated, it is an insult to any Buckeye fans intelligence to try and pass these off as a tribute/homage/throwback/resemblance to 1954.

it looks like a joint of the 40s helmets and the 57 team, to me anyway...

should be interesting to see what color the actual gray is. my guess is a camera phone was used in those pictures... right? its probably darker than most expected and are accustomed to yet lighter than what you see there.

I love our history as much as anyone, but I have to say that I do like the uniform.

I agree with JWins that the uniform isn't what I was expecting when the press release made it seem as though we were showing love to the '54 team... but I think the helmet has an old school feel and is a closer representation to the '54 helmet than what we currently wear.

These aren't '54 replicas...

Again, I like the uniform... I hate our current pants that seem to be clear when they get wet. The darker gray is something I've wanted for a long time. I hope we keep the color, but I'd rather keep our striping for every game use.

I also like the jersey... I could do with out the "wings" on the shoulders, but they don't bother me either - I guess I just don't get them or what it brings to the jersey. I'd rather keep our font for the numbers, but like the black outline... I'm interested in seeing what the actual scarlet color looks like in person for the numbers, it looks REALLY light and I would like it much better to be darker (if it isn't already).

I'm fine if this is the direction Nike wants to take our uniforms... As long as the helmet stays the same and some of the things I pointed out are corrected, I think it's a solid uniform.

It may not be a replica, but I see the tribute...

Since most will agree that this has gone from a perceived tribute throwback uniform to an experiment, I think instead of the gray mesh on the shoulders, where Oregon has their Duck feathers, at this point we may as well stitch some of that area green and throw some Buckeye leaves on the shoulder. If done right, it would be pretty badass. Can anyone photoshop this type of thing?

Don't get me wrong, I love the tradition of the OSU uni's, but you also have to admit that once you see what we have worn through the years, even back to when scUM was relevant, our uniforms have changed way more than the random fan believes, and would like to admit. But I really like these uniforms so far, I think they will look better once the team puts them on.

When we beat Weasel Ass in these rags, you'll laugh so hard that I think you will eventually learn to like them.

I think I will reserve judgment until I see the uniform on someone. I agree that the shoulders in white stitching would have been better.
Agreed. I like them enough from the picture, but I remember how mad everyone was at the last change, and I think they look just fine (jersey, not the pants). Will withhold final decision until I see them on...

You mean one per shoulder, like the logo patch of the cowboys star? That could look ok or awful but I like the idea if we're going for a new 'don't want to use it but its better than Nike' uniform.

I'm trying to picture what you're describing, and the mental image keeps coming up: Oregon's first abomination of the modern uniform but with Buckeye Leaves instead of diamond plating.
