Joseph Barksdale (OL Arizona Cardinals)

ahh, well there's lots of reason's why to like OSU's chances with Barksdale some can be said, others shouldn't be said in public. Know this, I like our chances with him better than OOS recruit currently on our board.

As always, thanks for the insight. With Barksdale playing a position of need in our next class, its good to hear we are in the mix at this point.

not to try and insinuate anything here, but if you like osu's chances with him better than with blankenship, that says quite a bit.

Good catch. Blankenship is looking very, very good and I already liked our chances because of how many OSU games he has been to, Gholston, Ginn Tour, ect. It would be great to get Barksdale and I was quite curious as to why he wasn't in the top 100. I know it's just a pre-evaluation and maybe they didn't see him. I think after he shows up at the camps he gets in the top 100 though.

Barksdale has a VERY favorable situation here at OSU, not unlike the one David Patterson had a few years ago. After this year, we're losing our top 3 DT's (Pitcock, Patterson, and Penton). The moment he steps on campus, he will be the #5 guy on a 4-man DT rotation in games, meaning he's the first on when they start pulling starters. If he comes to OSU, he's not going to redshirt. He will see time really quickly, and he'll see a whole lot more if he can beat out just one man to get make the 4-man rotation.

He also says that he wants to go to a school that is goign to compete for national championships and a BCS type season to back up last years would put us in very good standing.

This kid is quickly becoming a hot commodity. I can't believe that Rivals didn't put him on their Top 100 list when they re-did it last month. I think he's easily one of the Top 5 guys in Michigan and that he's a Top 100 player in the nation. Not many guys that big, that quick, and who move that well at the d-tackle position.

I've heard his three favorites were Michigan, OSU, and Miami. Wonder if this offer moves Miami up at all for him. I'd imagine that this will still come down to Michigan-Ohio State, and that Ohio State may have a slight lead at this point.
