Tom VanHaaren ‏ @ TomVH
Just spoke with Damien Harris' coach, he had a message he was adamant that I tweet to Michigan fans.

Tom VanHaaren ‏ @ TomVH
"People need to back off of [Damien]. People are attacking him and the fans better ease up or they're going to push him away from Michigan."

Tom VanHaaren ‏ @ TomVH
Harris' coach said the only impact a fan can have on a prospect's recruitment is a negative one. Apparently Michigan fans have been nasty.

So true.....I'm thankful I'm not a big time recruit, especially one that decommits. The delirious things grown men and women tell you and post on your Facebook, Twitter, whatever else kids use nowadays would not be enjoyable. If more fans heeded those words by his coach this would be a much more enjoyable process for all!

Honestly if I were a recruit, or a family member of a recruit, I'd tell them to turn off social media until he's done recruiting. I have no doubt in my mind OSU fans do the same thing when OSU is spurned.

Too bad that's utterly unrealistic in this day and age. Especially when recruits talk to one another from multiple states away. If recruits turned off social media, Raekwon McMillan probably would've stayed in the sec, but jalyn Holmes was noted as having a major affect on him coming to Osu. Big Meech has also helped from Texas in getting guys into Osu as well. Social media sites like Facebook, twitter, instagram, vine, etc are a huge part of recruits lives, like it or not. Just picking up a phone for coaches and calling no longer works the best, the best recruiting staffs have multiple guys all over social media and do it well themselves.

Demetrius Knox's twitter seems to be gone while he scheduled a visit for UCLA after committing to us. Just saying, not that hard to do. If someone wants to reach you bad enough, they will

But I'm sure he still has his instagram and Facebook on. It's possible to turn off, yes, but teenagers live on social media now. Expecting them to turn it off during the recruiting cycle is unrealistic and hindrance as well since they do indeed help recruit other players
