Free Rivals - Army Bowl has special meaning to Kalis

One of the players Kalis will be competing against in East team practices is Cincinnati Taft defensive end Adolphus Washington. Kalis and Washington are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the state of Ohio, but making the matchup even more intriguing is that Kalis has committed to Michigan and Washington is headed to Ohio State.

"I'm definitely looking forward to it, not only because he is a great player, but because it is a precursor to the years to come," Kalis said of the matchup. "The one game I saw him, I think it was Taft vs. Friendship, he was tearing it up. I'm just excited to get out there and compete with him."

Pisser that this kid says exactly the right things as well. All the "stuff" that happened at TOSU over the past year added up to some Real Bad things. We lost our Coach and our QB. For all intents and purposes, we lost our best WR as well. Missing Boom and Adams was killer as well. BUT, I have a bad feeling that in about 5 years when we look back on what happened (with UFM at the helm and the heights that this program will be at) that the absolute WORST thing that came out of "Tattoo-Gate" will be NOT landing Kyle.

Disagree. If we lose Dunn, as many of us have been led to believe, that would be the biggest loss.

edit: And the worst thing.

Here's to hoping it's 4 years of what Vernon Gholston was to Jake Long. :oh:

If we get Diamond and Dodson, I will say Kalis who?

Oh come on. If you've seen the film on these guys, you know Kalis is the most college ready and we need a college ready OT. I know it makes people feel better to pretend as if losing him to the school up north means nothing, but its a big loss and a great pick up for them.

Let's stop acting like Michigan isn't pulling in a great recruiting class. It's actually very SEC-like in numbers and quality.

You're crazy. Not even close to SEC type. RichRod recruiting was very comparable to this class except for the amount of Ohio players - and only a few had OSU offers.

It's an early 00's Michigan caliber class.

The amount of verbals has inflated it from a 5-10th ranked class to a #1-2 ranking. That will change as the south starts their official recruiting period, but they'll likely stick around 4-6.

Very impressive class given where they were when many of these guys hopped on. Obviously guys like Kalis & Strobel were driven by the scandal, but Pipkins, Ross, Jenkins Stone, Richardson were a major change from the status quo. MSU has been smoking UM in-state recently and Hoke changed that this year, save for Burbridge (who was given the 'grades' excuse/red flag when he wasn't pursued harder by UM).

I think once the bigger names start to drop you'll see their class round up around the 6-8 region. The SEC schools haven't started filling out their classes yet. It's a classic Tresselian class, except many of those kids are going to be asked to contribute right away.
