LB Curtis Grant (National Champion)

Trying not to get ahead of myself but the improvement from Curtis and Bennett coupled with Bosa playing better this early than most expected is exactly what we need. This defense is MUCH better than this point last year and these guys are a major reason why.

One of the most impressive things along with points scored is there have been no big plays. I think the biggest gain on the ground thus far has been 10 yds. Not much, if any, success going deep in the passing game as well. If we can do the same thing against CAL who had numerous big plays last year, it could be another convincing victory because their Defense does not look that good at this point.

Keep in mind that both SDSU QB's--especially the starter--missed some wide-open receivers...not many, but the game would've been noticably closer had the QBs hit those receivers.

I actually thought Grant looked much more comfortable back there Saturday. He made some good plays and the linebacker play over all looks to be improving. I am not saying we are to the point we expect our LB play to be yet, but I certainly am seeing improvement, which provides some hope that they are getting better.

CAL's QB and wide receivers are definitely a step up from the Buff's and Aztec's but I think our Defense will be up for the challenge. I think our Defense is way further along than it was this time last year. We are playing faster on D, wrapping up tackles and just playing better overall Defense, especially at LB. Our veteran defensive backfield definitely has the speed and talent to contain the CAL Offense.

GO BUCKS!!
