So fucking glad I won't have to hear the term "honey badger" every 12 seconds during each football broadcast. I have this irrational hatred of the dude because of his nickname and everyone's desire to say it instead of using pronouns, like him, he or Sisqo.

I'll give you that, but it's nice to see a nickname that is just that. My irrational hatred is reserved for pseudo nicknames like "T Math". Those make we want to rob liquor stores with Bucky Katt.

The stickiest of the icky.

I'll say this. I can't wait to hear Bill King on Monday. I'm sure just about everybody in Louisiana will be calling for Lesticles' head again.

The rational fans saw this coming.
We were praying he made it through the season without scewing up.

My dumbass brother in law on the other hand...
Well he was ready to fire miles the moment the news broke.

But he's one of those idiots who think players should be allowed to do whatever the hell they want, and that a certain NFL qb should have been handed part ownership of his team.

So far, for the most part, people are rather calm on this issue.
No one is happy, but I don't think anyone is really shocked, or blaming miles for this one.

We gave that kid an opportunity to escape his past.
But sometimes the demons are stronger than your support group.
Was a tough decision, but one that has to be made.

I respect Les even more after this.
Considering the aftermath of Perrillou. (2 shitty seasons) nearly cost him his job, it couldn't have been an easy decision to just cut your best player with expectations as high as they are entering a season

What makes this even more funny is that the ESPN Magazine CFB preview issue comes out this weekend (the one in which Wright Thompson's Urban Meyer piece is a feature), and one of the LSU sidebars is about Mathieu, which includes the quote "Maybe he's immature, a train wreck waiting to happen."

I will say one thing for the Hat, he's goofy as fuck, but he's pretty decisive in these kind of situations. Perrilloux and now this, he hasn't coddled star players for the benefit of the team.

Meh. My interpretation is that the three-strike drug policy is university-wide. I think Les sold his soul for wins like every single other FBS coach long ago.

Coaches can do pretty much anything and get another job, except losing.

Tyrann Mathieu covets LSU return?

Former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu has expressed interest in sitting out this season, enrolling in classes and hoping for a return to the program in 2013, if it can be worked out with the school, according to sources.
It's been unclear whether Mathieu had been declared permanently ineligible and has no chance to play for LSU again. But a source said that was not the case, and that it's possible for Mathieu to be reinstated at LSU in the future.
Mathieu is hoping to stay at LSU in part because of the "support system" at the school. He has two years of eligibility remaining and three years in which to use that eligibilty.
Mathieu was dismissed from the team Friday following failed substance-abuse tests, but he was not dismissed by the university. The possibility of reinstatement would have to be approved at many levels, including university administration as well as coach Les Miles, and it is being discussed.
Mathieu has visited McNeese State, and that remains an option, according to a source close to Mathieu. And although other FCS schools, including Jackson State and Prairie View A&M, have expressed interest, they are not options at this time.
Mathieu has been described as "heartbroken" and "grieving" since his dismissal from the team.
Mathieu has told people close to him that he is interested in working on his maturity and character and also in seeking out any way to continue his education at LSU.

Personally, I think it's in the best interest of both parties (LSU and Mathieu) to just move on.

LSUs official drug abuse policy for athletes does allow him back after a year.
Provided the athlete pays his own way to remain a student at LSU for the year he misses. Enrolls in a drug abuse program. Is tested regularly the year he is out. And is approved by several people in the athletic department (AD, coach, etc)

This almost never comes up because pretty much no athlete ever wants to do that.
They all just transfer to FCS school and then to pro career.

We'll see what happens, but i'll be shocked of he ever wears an LSU uniform again.

P.S. new Orleans paper is calling BS on this story anyway.
"sources" close to Mathieu said him staying in Baton Rouge isn't an option.
