Madden Curse Headed back to tennessee... VY on cover

i understand that but would you really want to risk it?
That is, of course, assuming it's real... and not just that football's a violent, injury-heavy game. Another cheesy cliche :p:

Athletic greatness is impossible if you validate & dwell on the risks, both inherit and imaginary.

so im guessing you think its not real? i mean ever since Eddie George was on the cover in 2001 something bad has happened to each player that has appeared on the cover.

but then again, maybe since it started in Tennessee it will end in Tennessee.

Wrong.

Garrison Hearst was on the cover of some versions of Madden '99 (broken ankle), while Barry Sanders (abruptly retired) and Dorsey Levens (suddenly ineffectively) appeared on versions of Madden 2000.

Eddie George's decline did not occur until the year following the cover. For the active season (2000) that his cover (Madden 2001) was current, he enjoyed one his best NFL seasons with career highs in yards and TDs. Tennessee failed to return to the Super Bowl, but that wasn't Eddie's fault (unless his AFC Championship game fumble is proof of a curse).

I think high profile athletes face hardships regardless of cover status. Let's look back at some of the high-profile athletes from 2005 (which is what inspires the cover for Madden 07 - aka 06 season).

Rothlisberger (bike crash, appendectomy), Hasselback (injury), TO (suicide, injury, etc), McNabb (injury), Portis (injury)

Big Ben, TO & McNabb are all very cover-worthy. Hasselback & Portis are notch lower, but both are high profile individuals (hasselback was all over endorsements, and portis has been a star for years).

very good post, and very true, high profile athletes get injured all the time and not just because they are on the cover  but.

the curse is real

I'm pretty sure that there were more players who were not on the cover last year (or previous years, for that matter) who got hurt, than the number of players who WERE on the cover, and also got hurt.

I think there's a curse on players who weren't on the cover.
