does it get on a ESPN or ESPN2 though?

or slapped on the BTN

Im 100 % sure I heard Fowler say South Carolina vs Southern Miss was the College football opener for next year on ESPN the other day. They surely wouldnt put tOSU on ESPN2 And SC on ESPN. I bet it's on ABC.

Does this mean that we need to stop making fun of teams which play on Thursday nights??? :(
Not at all. It means someone at ESPN realized that Ohio State playing a .500 C-USA team is a better draw than an intersectional game between the ACC and SEC.

I agree with jwins on this one, I'm against it during the season but as a season opener I really don't have a problem with it. The game will likely be on ESPN as one of the first games to kick off the new season with no competition in that timeslot. Everyone in the nation will be watching, good chance to showcase the program to recruits. Nice for the fans not to have to sit through an early September noon kick scorcher as well.

Ain't like it's the first time. We opened against Wyoming on a Thursday night a few years back. Nonetheless I'm among the wise guys who frequently likes to point out that the Big East, ACC and MAC are Thursday night "providers."

Since I teach on a Tuesday - Thursday schedule and since I'm sure this will come up big on the non-president's-club Alumni ticket program I'm looking forward to watching the Herd and the Bucks get it on.

It's good to be retired.

Fucking hate it.

-Played a 1-AA school
-Let Nike whore out our uniforms
-Now we agree to a Thursday night game like we are South fucking Florida or something.

What the fuck is next?

It's pathetic in-season because that's the only way most of america will watch your game. No one watches South Florida - Syracuse when it's on at 12.

OSU's first game would still be broadcast nationally (at least mirrored), with their top-5 ranking, heisman candidate, and preview for the premiere OOC matchup against Miami.

Here's some of the positives about it:

1. School is not in session, so it won't combat with school.

2. It is a night game, which might help the team get accustomed quickly in preparation for the Miami game (which will most likely be a 3:30 or 8:00 kickoff)

3. It's on Thursday, so it will give the Buckeyes an extra couple days preparation/rest for The U

4. Since they won't be playing a game on Saturday, they can watch Miami's game live.

5. A big game will mean a good deal to TP's heisman chances, since it will be (presumably) the only game on

6. C'mon, it's TWO FULL DAYS less of a wait for the season to start! Those are the worst days for me
