Too early to start this thread??
I'm already excited of a more unified team. Even if BJ goes pro, which he almost assuredly will, they will finally have some game experience together.
I'd assume the line-up will look something like this:
PG - Hill
Wing - Buford
Wing - Turner
F - Lighty
F - Lauderdale
It will be interesting to see who starts between Buford and Diebler, but I think William is to talented to keep off of the floor. Jon would be a great hand to bring off of the bench. Hill and Simmons will be an interesting position battle, but it seems PJ gives better energy to start the game, and Jeremie likes coming off of the bench.
It will also be interesting to see if there are any surprise recruits once Mullens declares. Maybe a true PG??
I am excited to see what Zisis Sarikopoulos can bring in he middle. We still have some depth in Madsen. It was good to see Offut get some minutes late in the year, and he should be a very solid defender.
I'm also interested in seeing if we play exclsuive zone again next year. You'd think with the amount of athletes we have, we should be able to play a pretty good man defense. I'm hopeful they mix it up next year, because come Big 10 PLAY, our zone loses effectiveness.
Last night showed, how good our zone is against teams that aren't used to it. Rebounding is obviously a major issue that is hard to correct when you play zone.
I'm definately optimistic though. Certanly more optimistic than I was even after winning the NIT tournament last year. It just seems we have a solid nucleus going into next season.
